Or did the 'Final Five' have something to do with the upgrading of the Centurions and creation of the other seven skinjob models? Seems like they've been around a lot longer than their seven brethren (i.e. looking for the 'Eye' episodes).

Why that? Just because there's an obvious echo between the five priests (or whatever they were) and the Final Five doesn't mean that the latter are identical with the former. There are lots of numerical (and other) parallels in the series, but I don't think we have any reason to believe that Tigh & Co. are the priests of yore.

Obviously. Which must have been quite a trick, since apparently the Centurions (or some yet-to-be-revealed superior Cylon machine intelligence) created the humanoid Cylons in the first place.
Yes, it would be quite the unprecedented shock to have a race created by another race turn on the creators

The main reason they're de-boxing D'Anna's model is because she saw the faces of the Final Five in the Temple of the Eye and can identify their physical incarnations aboard the Galactica fleet. I see nothing that indicates that the Final Five
aren't the physical incarnations of those that D'Anna saw in the Temple, ergo, the priests of yore. It would make sense that the Final Five had to come back somehow to fulfill the prophecies, so how could the Final Five not be the physical incarnations of those priests?

I'd agree that they correspond in some way to the priests, but before we know anything more, I don't think we've had enough of a reason to make that correspondence as concrete and specific as you are making it. It's a nice enough theory, but I don't think your apparent certainty is justified by things so far.

Okay; we can agree to disagree.
One thing that is bothering me is that during the fight scene between Tigh & Adama, Tigh doesn't seem to use any of his 'special Cylon strength'. We've already seen how Tori sent Calli flying a good 20 feet with a solid backhand, so was Tigh holding himself back or what?

Huh, D'Anna eh? I'd assumed that it was Diana. Which is the Romanized form of Artemis, greek/roman goddess of hunting and the moon. The other skinjobs don't seem to have any naming connection with the greek/colonial gods so I guess it's not much of a thing.
Dia on 4/6/2008 at 17:36
Hadn't thought of the D'Anna connection. Though the other skinjobs don't have names even remotely connected with the Gods, the humans have Apollo, Athena, and Zeus (as Bill Adama has been referred to). Probably just part of the script with no ulterior meanings, I think.

It'd be odd for the Cylons, who have rejected the gods plural and worship the One God, to have mythological names. Although that D'Anna thing is a strange coincidence.

We were talking about giving/taking sentience, not rebelling. Do try to keep track of these things.
