May as well say something to make it worth peoples attention. Or kill the thread outright as is my specialty.
I avoided new galactica because when I saw that starbuck was a woman I figured they were just pandering to make the show more accessable to women and therefore increase the audience or something.
Now I think its just a kickass show, cheesy tension moments prior to a commercial break not withstanding. nowhere near as bad a lost at least.

The thing that put me off watching it in the first place was that I thought the original was balls, and that this was some kind of cheesy stargate-style crap written for a buffy audience. Happily, it turns out I was dead wrong! Starbuck was annoying as hell in the miniseries, but I've grown to like her. Now the only thing that bugs me is the sci-fi swearing and those FUCKING PANPIPES that show up whenever adama and apollo have a worthers moment.

I couldn't watch the new BSG because I live way out in the boonies & the cable companies refused to run cable out this way ('too sparsely populated' was the answer I always got). I ended up buying seasons 1 & 2 (including season 2.5) and I quickly realized that this was one of those series I was just going to absolutely love! Just got a satellite hookup a couple months ago and I'M LOVIN' IT!!!!! I've been catching up on season 3 reruns and can't wait til Nov. when season 4 starts.
And yes, it took me awhile to get used to Starbuck; I guess her character just has to grow on you. Face it: this lady kicks butt! :thumb:
Apollo was much, much easier to like ......... except when he goes around being all full of angst and remorse and then I just want to kick him and tell him to pull up his socks.

Having seen the original Galactica when I was a kid, I had the same negative reaction when I first heard that Starbuck was a woman in the new series. I gave it a try nevertheless, and not only I like this new series, but now Starbuck is one of my favourite characters. Also, for added bonus the most annoying character in the old Galactica (Boxey) was cut out in the new Galactica.

Well, I remember him in the mini-series, leaving Caprica on Boomer's Raptor, and I remember him appearing shortly on a couple of other ocasions. Fortunately he never showed up again. The last time I saw the old Galactica DVDs, I found myself fast forwarding almost everytime Boxey showed up.
