well crap :o
sure looks like the finale will have its share of surprises...
Incidentally, about the lawyer, I can't imagine someone better that Firefly's Badger for that part :thumb:

Dammit!
I really have to be less stingy and open my wallet once in a while, Must buy various DVD's!

Well well... Interesting first part.
Looks like the rift between Adama Sr and Jr is not going to close for a while, and Badger is definitely the perfect choice as Baltar's lawyer.
I don't know where they're going with destroying all the "witnesses", I kind of expected Col. Tigh to break, but Roslin's Chamalla trip came as a surprise.
And what's going on with the music, I could have a doubt with Anders and the President's chief of staff, but Tigh is pretty much confirmed as non-cylon at that point.
:weird:
Incidentally in this last mid-season there have been some pretty good CGI from Zoic, nice upside-down shots and stuff like that, very cool eye-candy :thumb:

All I have to say is that there is a reason that the Sci-Fi channel is not the number one TV destination for legal dramas.
Oy gevalt, was that painful.

I liked this show a lot better when it was about humans running all over the galaxy desperately trying to avoid one final all-out shitkicking at the hands of the Cylons.
What they're doing now, not so much.

Well the fleet is short on legal experts, Lee not knowing what he's doing is kind of the point, and Lampkin is just nuts anyway. So I think there's some leeway for the trial to deviate from what we'd call proper legal proceedings today.
Anyway the pace is a little slow right now. Although I liked Dirty hands and not every single damn episode has to be CYLONS RIGHT BEHIND US, I would agree a few of the recent eps have been on the weaker side. But season 2 followed a similar pattern, then things got awesome again, so I'm not losing faith just yet.

I can accept some sloppiness, but it's out and out not even close to a legal proceeding.
It may be that you have to have an Evidence class or two under your belt to appreciate how ridiculous it was, but for one thing, let's just say that when you boil it down to "Every defendant has a right to slime the other side's witnesses, and if you don't step up and help with that, he's not getting a fair trial" is rather silly.
It's confusing tactics with principles.

The more I think about it, the more I think they'll trash the trial beyond repair so there could only be one way to go: free Baltar. We already see that more than a few nutjobs see him as a kind of messiah and his "book" has some success, so it would not be that unbelievable. (ok, it probably would)
Then they go OMG split fleet ala Season 2. Then the Cylons can jump out of hyperspace right on to of them in that godamn prophetized nebula and go all Deus Ex Machina on them.
Which would be cool if it wasn't so damn predictable. I hope I'm wrong.

Oh, there's an ages old thread about this series - time to give my few cents :)
In some way I'm a browncoat as well, so when BSG was aired on german channels here in europe I was very happy about it.
The initial set up (ships, characters) is amazing for me and I like how some things were kept in the spirit of the original series (some childhood dream there ;) ).
But then again, I didn't like the constant paranoia that was created - and not resolved.
Admitted, I only saw about the first 8 episodes or so, but all the time here a cylone spy pops up, there another, no one knows it - the next one sees one all the time...
Paranoia and fear everywhere with inevitably no hope left; I know that this is one of the major components the show is made of, but I don't find it entertaining.
German SciFi channel gives it a rerun now every day, but I guess I wont follow it...
ps: Aja, that animated GIF up there made my day :)

Having just seen the season finale of season 3, I have two statements:
Holy shit; and I saw that one coming.
Also the next season is in 2008.
