Can't wait for this, it's going to be spectacular (If the high quality of the spin-off, Bad Company 2, is any indication). DICE is one the last AAA developers around that knows how to build a good PvP MP game (Valve? LOL).
With this and Red Orchestra 2, it's going to a good year for MP shooters.
64 players on PC (24 on consoles)! Oh yeahhhh.

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch.
...
Battlefield 3 will release this Fall.

Sounds very promising. I found myself disliking aspects of BC2 that reminded me uncomfortably of Call of Duty, but from their description this is going to be more like Battlefield 2, which, while not especially realistic, conveyed the feel of the modern battlefield better IMO.

Who cares? It will still not have Titans. It will still essentially be Battlefield 2.1.

I think it will be great as long as they take the time to get the balance right. I like BC2 more than the previous BF games not so much because it's better (although IMHO it is) but because it was so polished and playable. It's good to hear they're bringing back prone and focusing on jets, but at the same time both of those could be game-breakers if they aren't implemented well.

The fact that the game will be using an entirely new graphics and physics engines to its 2005 predecessor, amongst other things, shows that you're a fucking moron. Destruction 3.0 alone will have changed a lot of the gameplay's dynamics.

No, the other 845395 posts he's made show he's a fucking moron. That one just reinforces it.

it's only 6,218 but it certainly feels like a lot more

The fact that you think graphics has anything to do with gameplay shows you're a fucking moron. And the destructible environments? I wouldn't call it a gimmick, but the impact is much less than hippos like you want to believe. That's the 0.1

I'm loving Bad Company 2 and am excited for this, even though Bad Company 2 is usually so tightly paced I've found I don't miss the things they've removed since BF2.
I, for one, am looking forward to the return of a quarter of my teammates sitting around on an empty airfield with their dicks in hand.

No, fuckwit. How things are handled by the engine and its various quirks will affect the gameplay. Of course this is all tip of the iceberg stuff. Expect an entire ocean of stuff that distinguishes BF3 from its 2005 predecessor.
I fully expect the expanded the more refined infantry combat from BC2 to rub off upon BF3, but this is all theory of course.
