I had completely forgotten that there was a MS app store until you mentioned it. Start8 will do that.
Windows 8.1 truly is the best desktop environment OS from MS to date once you've removed Metro UI from the equation.

I'll upgrade to Windows 8.1... when you can pry my boxed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate from my cold dead hands. :cheeky:
Seriously though... I'm actually shocked that they had the cojones to pull the game until it has been fixed.

Windows 7 is the new XP:- a prehistoric relic that stubborn luddites will hang onto. Meanwhile when all of the DX12 only games start rolling they'll be crying... even though Win 10 was offered as a FREE UPGRADE for 12 months. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will only be the beginning (which is a bonafide remake, not one of those cheap "remastered" ports).

Sorry, it's just that microsoft has a history with releasing buggy crap-then-gold-then-crap again... etc... repeat. So I have a tendency to avoid every other OS they release like the plague. And since DirectX 12 is exclusive to Windows 10, I don't see much of an incentive to upgrade to 8 at all.
And unfortunately, I just can't muster up even a slightest amount of interested in the Gears of War remake unless they decide to announce part 2 & 3 for the pc as well.

(Just to be a little less glib - there's no reason to think that every other O/S revision will follow the previous pattern, unless we're supposing that it's done on purpose)

Or...you know....people that actually have real enterprise security needs. Like NASA, which removed windows 8 from its systems...or China, which banned the use of Windows 8 and beyond from any government computer systems.
Windows 7 is going to last a longer time because business that do have security concerns (like governments, investment banks, medical companies, etc) simply can not use Windows 8 due to numerous backdoors that were deliberately built into the OS for the benefit of US intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

Citation sorely needed on that last part.

What on earth does asking someone for a specific reference have to do with being open-minded?
Tony_Tarantula on 26/6/2015 at 15:09
Because it's a one-way expectation in your case, and because if you actually wanted to hear that information you would have checked up on it yourself.
