Well that needs some time in the oven.

Wuh? I didn't watch the whole gameplay video, but what I did see looked pretty good to me.

Quite a few bugs and things not working. A big complex RPG is a tough thing to get working right and Larian's one of the few companies out there doing Ultima-ish stuff, so they are making things even harder for themselves.

After playing DOS2, I wouldn't trust any company but Larian to take on Baldur's Gate. Good to see Illithids getting their time in the spotlight.

Well, that's gross.

Interesting shades of grey moral dilemma. No voiced player character limiting dialogue options available. Option to resolve stuff through skill checks during dialogue. This is almost unfathomable from a AAA RPG from the last decade, even The Outer Worlds which felt it had the edges sanded off ("Corporatism is bad" doesn't have any bite).

I just see die rolls, aka random chance, being used to determine what you can and cannot do.
Sure, that's how D&D rolls, but it's terrible design for a computer game, it'll just force you to save before every decision and reload if the RNG Gods don't favour you.

I don't think it has to be like that, though. IMO Disco Elysium did this very well, where a failed roll of the dice didn't just mean that you couldn't do something. The story progressed, and failure was as much a part of that as success. In my perfect world, that's how all CRPGs would do it.
