Curiously I'm through Icewind Dale (+expansions) for second time now, this time in full details and OpenGL as my previous computer couldn't handle it. I thought Infinity games, which I once loved so much, wouldn't appeal me anymore, but big surprise - now I wonder I made it so far into Severed Hand fortress and I'm hungry for more!
As for mods, I don't need any for these games. Perhaps the right time for them is over, I don't want to waste time with unofficial mods, it takes me enough time to complete official stories (yes, I plan to replay BGs as well in the future - I still didn't finish both datadiscs).
However, I may try TUTU or something that enhances graphics/interface of BG1 - I'm too spoiled by playing IWD and BG2 in 1024x768 with possibility to press H and enjoy the peak of honest 2D graphics.
Also I am vocal enthusiast of the full party of 6. This is what the games are about in opposition to modern trend of solo protagonist RPGs (TES, Gothic...) - party tactics! And I'd be sorry for not having those excellently written characters in BG2. For me, the beauty of Infinity games isn't in addiction to experience points hunting in the first place - for that I may as well play Diablo or something equally 'complex'.

Trilogy? They made BG3 and no-one told me?
Or is the BG2 expansion now considered part three? :tsktsk:
I'm pretty sure the developers always used that tagline for it, no?

AFAIK WoTC disposed BIS of D&D license before the studio fell apart (please correct me anyone if I'm wrong). The (c) for the games are theoretically in hands of Interplay, but they're not allowed to make another D&D title without proper D&D license. So I suppose it's a dead end. Anyway, isn't it better to create a new amazing story before resurrections of a perfectly ended saga drown it in swamp of mediocrity?

Though it looks like we may finally be getting some real news about BG's successor - (

The 'Black Hound' storyline that was to be BG3 is supposedly going to be released as a (
http://theblackhound.googlepages.com/) NWN2 module.
It's being created by J.E. Sawyer (who was lead designer for Icewind Dale 2, as well as the cancelled BG3 & Fallout 3).
There hasn't been an update for quite some time though, and since it is a side-project who knows when/if it will ever see the light of day.

BG3 on 3E? Count me in

Anything but. I'd rather have a text adventure than an NWN2 module
Seriously have any of you played that game?
Terrible camera controls, most inefficient rendering choices since Second Life and undocumented requirements on a previously unknown scale.
It plays like KOTOR3: NOT IN SPACE.
