Do I need any of the Imperial Legion quest armor/attire to be able to do the Imperial Cult quests? I know where I sold the stuff & the IL was big on 'uniform of the day' protocol. As much as possible, I'm trying to do this w/light armor only. TIA.

Nah, practically speaking the only thing the Imperial Legion and the Imperial Cult share is the word 'Imperial' (and if anyone wants to be picky, they also share Ebonheart, and a servile attitude towards the Emperor ;))
