Azura's Star? How do i get it?

I've read that there is a reusable soul gem called azura's star how do i find it and get it.

This is straight from Morrowind v.NX

Azura's Star:
Go to Azura's shrine (its on the map that came with Morrowind, bottom right corner).

You can only get this artifact as a part of the quest from the Shrine of Azura. After you get the quest from Azura, go to the island northwest of Dagon fel. The one with a house on it on your morrowind map that came with the game. DON'T enter the house. On the island, you will meet a golden saint named Staada. Kill her and bring her ring back to Azura and you will be rewarded with Azura's Star. The Azura's Star is a re-usable soul gem, and it can hold any size of souls.

Please note, the island with Staada is one of top 4 islands on the very top of the world map. It is the 2nd from the right. I recommend ignoring all of the very large creatures on the island, and going straight for Staada.

I performed Azura's quest, killed the beast, retrieved the ring but I went into the house and now I dont have a save game of before this.

1. Is this disastrous?
2. Can I make amends
3. Is this quest on the critical path for ending the game?
4. Do I have to start again?

Any help here would be good.

press ` [the button next to one and above tab] and type in:
Player->additem misc_soulgem_azura 1

then press enter.
Screwed up quest problem solved.

Do you know the answer to my other questions and whether there is a legitamte way in the game of making amends?

Also does it matter to the game that I havn't completed this quest. Do I need to trap Vivec's soul or is this another side quest?

if the answer to this is yes, I have to trap Vivecs soul and no there is no legitimate way of doing it then I will have to use your mod in the console.

It is just that I have yet to start using console modifiers and I am reluctant to start should there be a way round. The console modifier might start to be a drug........

No, you don't need azura's star to complete the game. It's just a misc quest.
I don't know if you can make ammends cause I've never ruined that quest.

Maybe I am the only person in the world to have met this woman then? Anyone that wants to know what she is like can ask me.......

nope:) i as well forgot what azura told about entering there, and after chopping all the organisms on the island (because she wanted me to do so:rolleyes: ), i just thought maybe the lady in there wants to thank me:cool: (and of course symbolise it with a reward:cheeky: ) but as i do before each step, i just pressed to F5... so when i entered she told me that azura will not like that visit inside... then "the penny dropped":) and i just pressed F9... now i have the star:) but i filled it with the soul of one of those dagoths by a mistake... i was just trying to collect dagoth souls... but when my grand soul gems finished, i suddenly realised that there are much more Dagoths than i thought, ... and then i realised that the last dagoth was in the star... now i dont want to enchant an item with a dagoth soul while there are many golden saints around... so i ll have to persuade that dagoth, to find another gem to dwell into and leave my star alone...
now i gave up collecting dagoth souls as there are hundreds of them to collect but i need those grand soulgems:) Dagoth Ur's wife must be very... ehm... :erm: ....:idea: productive?

Just equip the star and recharge an item that you've used recently. Or else enchant something that you know will fail...
