Yes! Time to get hyped for Disney's Marvel's Square Enix's Crystal Dynamics's Eidos Montreal's THE AVENGERS: RE-ASSEMBLE.

Not much to go on yet, but let's speculate! The (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Man_2_(video_game)) Iron Man, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk_(2008_video_game)) Hulk and (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America:_Super_Soldier) Captain America games that came out last-gen were cheap tie-ins with scores in the 50% range. Getting Crystal Dynamics and EM involved this time around suggest Marvel are getting serious about videogames. I've enjoyed the movies and I've been pleasantly suprised by how good the TV shows have been as well. Though, just like they did with the Netflix shows, I wish they'd gone with new characters for the games rather than use the ones from the movies. Gonna be less creative freedom for the developers if they need to tie it in to the movies too much. Also, all these superpowered heroes? Not sure they translate well to gameplay. Yeah yeah, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk:_Ultimate_Destruction) Hulk Ultimate Destruction was great, but besides that none of these guys have ever had a videogame hit (that I know of). And the kinda gameplay we're used to seeing from EM and CD is usually more down-to-earth(relatively speaking). I think a Black Widow game by EM might have potential, but it probably won't be that.

So how does this work, exactly? Disney/Marvel do the focus testing and veto all the good ideas, Square Enix does the cutscenes, CD do the rubbish platforming sections* while shoehorning in upgradeable mutant powers earned by hunting and skinning enough rabbits, and EM work in an Illuminati backstory to a Hydra conspiracy?

*Rubbish, that is, unless Cap can use his shield as a makeshift throwable platform. MAKE IT SO, CD.

Uhh yes. Jensen has like a couple cool superpowered moves in him, then he has to take a breather and eat an energybar but the Cap can just keep going. And the Captain's shield makes him practically invincible, while Jensen goes down in a hail of gunfire. The Cap would totally win in a fight, is what I'm saying.

If only THQ hadn't cancelled The Avengers game they were working on. One of the more boneheaded decisions made there.
