If fire shadow escaped and I didn't kill him, why in the stats I have 1 kill? That's mysterious. Also I can't use sword in this challenge. Selecting it manually would be a bust.
Also while playing this mission I realized how big nightmare will be final mission. I'm not looking forward to it.
I have replayed the thief gold levels a few times and looked at the byte codes for slay results.
the FIRST time you get a firemage to "run away" it sets the slay result counter to +1.
it doesn't increment anytime after that for damaged firemages.
i used dromed to insert a 2nd firemage into the cathedral level and used water arrows to get both to run away.
only the FIRST run-away result of ANY firemage sets your slay counter to +1, you can repeatedly defeat the resurrected and other firemages without adding to the count.
so if you don't mind the others killed getting set to +1 slay to your hearts content.

I quite like this idea. Once you've mastered the games there is nothing left other than to place self-imposed restrictions such as no saving or detections. So I guess this is a "Garrett has no pockets" playstyle.
As for the Maw, I have read that you can surf the monster-bubbles in some way? And can get back to the starting cavern via this?
So in theory you can always go back for moss, gas or water arrows. The only problem is that I can't remember if there are fire crystals in the Maw? Oh and that the bubble-surfing might be hard.

You have right idea about Maw, but you aren't riding bubbles, but monsters. And it's super easy to slide down and it requires hundreds of reloads. As for elemental arrows, yes, they are present in the mission. But I will be forced to iron man the whole mission with them equipped. It will be like my escape with fire arrow in Trail of Blood, but longer and harder.

MISSION 4 - ASSASSINS
Another short mission of Thief Gold, but this one forced me into trying few different things. I also discovered few things I wasn't aware about.
1) There is unfrobbable door with handle in city north from shop. Nothing special. But it's the only instance this kind of door is here. All others are frobbable doors or just background doors. I wonder what this one is for. Why is it solid?
2) I can make notes on map and erase them. Just like in Thief 2. I wasn't aware that this function works also in Thief Gold. I thought it was introduced in Thief 2, but no. But well, Thief Gold maps never had any Notes page.
3) If you steal Ramirez purse and leave mansion, escape objective gets completed. That's nothing new, but this objective gets completed even if you don't have completed other objectives (fire poker and loot objectives). And it stays completed. So when I returned in my test run with fire arrows to open door to Ramirez Bedroom, alarm launched. I was sure that I will be forced to return home instead just outside. I completed both loot and fire poker objectives and mission just ended. In Ramirez Bedroom! I was super surprised.
4) I can use 2 fire arrows to open wooden doors. I didn't thought it will work on newest TFix. I thought that it was fixed for Newdark release, but I was wrong. Not only that you can throw crate and wooden door will open. But if you use 1 crate, then it will get destroyed and parts of it may block door from opening. So it's better to throw 2 crates at one wooden door.
5) I can't destroy banners with fire arrows. I know it's possible to do that in Thief 2, but banners in Thief Gold are fire proof.
Mission starts and following thieves is easy. But then comes mansion part and main problem is that I get lockpicks now, but in this challenge selecting lockpicks is a bust. So I need to avoid that. Lots of doors is closed, the same goes with chests. Loot objective is harder. So I use water passage and strafe run on bottom to get to outside area. Then I triggered conversation at Courtyard and entered mansion.
I looted what I could on 1st floor, then went to basement. I went behind servant with key and stole his key after entering Ramirez hiding place. Then completed purse objective and took all loot from his room. Then I visited 2nd floor and looted it. In the end I used secret book switch in Library to enter locked part of 1st floor. After conversation I managed to grab Storage key and later Courtyard key and unlocked some more doors.
Of course I looted what I could, but that's still not enough. At this time I started to think how to figure out how to get to Ramirez Bedroom. I could transport fire arrow from shop all the way to the mansion and destroy banner or wooden doors, but I had no idea if it will work. And when leaving I noticed there are new thieves placed. I started to nudge NE thief to water, so I will avoid alerting him and escaping to my house at the end of this mission.. Then I did some testing.
I took crate from Basement and bring it to east tower outside of mansion. I put it in front of door leading to tower, climbed it and jumped to red roof, then mantled on balcony. From it I jumped to top of tower, took 2 crates and jumped back on balcony. I threw 2 crates in wooden door and door has opened. This way I managed to get fire poker and barely complete loot objective. I could probably use throwing crates at doors technique, but eventually somebody would hear. So I decided to not risk anymore.
Time to leave. I decided to use Klatremus way of leaving mansion. I mantled on open balcony door and mantled on red roof. I moved all the way to east part of roof and dropped in water. And because nobody heard me throwing crates to open balcony door, mission ended. Wow, that was something.

MISSION 5 - THIEVES' GUILD
My run starts from entering Restaurant via front door behind thieves. I go behind thief going downstairs to Casino and block open all doors. Then I used Restaurant key to unlock 2nd floor and transported rope arrows to Casino. But I didn't found rope arrow useful in this mission, so I abandoned it. I managed to grab purse behind thief without 2nd alert. Also I used water arrows to douse torches.
Then comes Sewers and it's confusing. What's worst I have completely forgot who's house I need to visit first and went to Donal instead to Reuben. Then I needed to find Randall's Bracelet and it also took some time. I nudged Thom on bed to grab key to Reuben. Then took Safe key to Donal. Though again I forgot the road to his house. I couldn't avoid servant in Kitchen. I have no idea how supreme ghosters do that, so I just ran to stairs and opened safe.
But it's not over yet. Loot objective is really tight when you can't use lockpicks. So I looted this house and I ended with magical 1994 loot. 6 loot away from completing loot objective. So I was forced to return to Sewers and search for more loot. Luckily there was goblet lying on floor near stone shelves. The alternative was return to Casino and loot table that I skipped. Then I returned to Donal and while escaping from thieves, I made my exit.

If you're referring to the female servant on Donal's main floor, she can't be Supreme ghosted. You have to use a water arrow to douse the torch, plus you get a first alert from sneaking past her. So you say you have no idea, well your instinct are correct. ;)
Galaer on 8/7/2020 at 18:46
Ah, so that's how it is. I actually thought about dousing torch, but couldn't find any water arrow lying on floor anywhere nearby. Alternative was nudging her, but it's really slow solution. Plus it's easy to hide from alerted thieves. Just run on stairs and they will not figure out to go there. Unless they will hear you or see you.
Trying to ghost these missions with restricted equipment would be really frustrating experience. Even though the biggest part of this challenge is actually ghosting. But usually there is one or more situations that busts ghost. Oh, well. It's not a ghosting challenge.

MISSION 6 - THE SWORD
My first guess was that without rope arrow I must go through front entrance. But that's not true. From tree I can barely mantle on window near balcony.
Unlike previous missions loot objective isn't big problem. The only problem I had was finding rope arrow. I risked and entered big small world. With strafe jumping I managed to get on floor of giant room and luckily I found rope arrow stuck in random place of giant carpet. I spent a lot of time in this area exploring it. Not too much loot here, but at least I learned Constantine's plans here. Also storing rope arrows in wood took me some time.
To get Constantine's Sword I just jumped from below and mantled on stone pedestal, then mantled on first stone ring and grabbed the Sword. Then simply drop on floor and escape.
I also took some time carrying key stolen from guard to check every locked door. In the end I used it to unlock path to balcony and finished this mission. I didn't not explored 3rd floor at all and I also skipped some places I could loot thanks to rope arrow.

MISSION 7 - THE HAUNTED CATHEDRAL
This mission is scary, because it has very tight loot objective. I can get on higher wooden ledge by mantling on tree, jumping on lamp, then on the ledge. From pipe I can mantle on rooftops and get to locked house or get diamond on high wooden beam. Also I venture through hole with crayman, but I'm forced to return out of the hole. I'm doing it by pushing barrel under hole, so I can mantle out.
Later I find first rock. I'm using it to climb higher places and to open locked wooden doors. This way I can go to Serpentile Torc and also open locked door in this house. Sadly to open chest with Serpentile Torc I need to select 2 lockpicks (bust #1-2). Also to get to area with haunts house I jump over water and mantle to the switches operating bridge. I lure zombies to kill burricks and spider. And the most important - in room with fire shadow I finally find rope arrow.
Then I decided to kill all zombies in this part with fire arrows, because they were annoying. There are 3 fire arrows at the beginning of burrick part. But first I went to open Keeper's passage with 1 fire arrow and listen to the Eye. Then I used rock to open wooden door. One of them led to crayman. I killed him with 4 fire arrows, then shoot rope arrows to have exit from water and swim for purse.
For grave I needed to shoot rope arrow into wooden beam, take rock with me to open wooden door while still having equipped with rope arrow to shoot it into wooden beam, so I could escape back up. Sadly I needed to select coins to put on grave (bust #3).
Loot objective wasn't that hard like I remembered and getting to places without rope arrows and lockpicks was quite fun. Also for some reason carrying rocks didn't slow me down. Is it a bug or difference with Thief 2? I don't know. But it was quite fun mission to figure out.

Didn't you bust getting through any of the doors in the Keeper area?
I can forsee problems unlocking the secret passage at the start of Lost City.
And getting to the hammer-blessing pool in RTTC. Not to mention battering open the attic door to get the body. And performing the ritual as you will need all the items picked up befor it startts :)
As for Sword, I always go in the front and rrun around until I have a trail of four gaurds. Then in a long corridor I drop a flash bomb then turn around and clonk them all :) (yes I know that would be a bust here)
