Once the internet filter idea died in the senate there was no longer any question in my mind that Labor was a better choice. I am dismayed that there is a very real chance of Australia being run by a party whose election campaign amounted to "Fuck off we're full."

Labors campaign was practically entirely all just "a vote for liberal is a step backwards".
I voted greens in this election as neither side was talking about anything that even remotely interests the 18-35 age groups. It was a campaign where both sides were aiming 100% at our parents and had no major ideals / promises that they were standing for to bring into being if elected, whilst the greens were the only ones actually standing up and saying what they stood for (action to fight climate change, legalising gay/lesbian marriage etc). So was an easy choice in my opinion.
The fact of both leaders not actually standing for anything is why so many people voted for neither of them imo.
Kevin Rudd atleast had policies and stuff that he believed in and spoke quite loudly about, where as Gillard did none of that at all. Rudd appealed more to the younger generations as well, so when he was kicked off the top spot that cost labor a shitload of votes all over the country.

The NBN appealed to 18-35 year olds, it was our parents who were the ones saying "But I can download email just fine!". Them and Tony Abbott.
Labor were about halfway down my ballot. Liberal were dead last.

I'm too prejudiced by the shades of Blairism in the Gillard Labour to vote for them, if I had the right - which, ironically, in some weeks I will.

And to think Abbott wanted to kick you out

"Australia" - an island state in the Southern hemisphere
"heads for" - pretty self-explanatory, surely?
"hung parliament" - a parliament where no single party has overall control
"cool" - an expression of satisfaction, sometimes ironic

I thought that "Parliament Cool" was surely a type of cigarette.

"Stalinist" - brutal communism, gulags, mass arrests and executions
