What programs do you guys recommend for recording? All I have right now is fairly poor mic and Windows sound recorder, which obviously sucks ass. I have FL Studio, but I don't know if you can use it to record anything with a microphone. I mainly got it to provide accompaniment.

I'm saving up for an MBox or similar thing to record into the computer. At the moment I'm using cooledit (off the front of a magazine). It's pretty good, except huge files!
Hey is that a yes or a no. :weird:

If you mean "Ida writ you a letter" That is an old country comedy tune from the 60's. Don't remember the artist. Could be Sheb Wooley. Sorry, but as far as covering it, help yourself.
EDIT:
Just looked it up. It was Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs.
I COULDN'T SPELL *^!@@#!* (W. Thompson)
(Verse 1)
E
Drew a mustache on your picture
A E
Threw your ring away
A
I'd a wrote you a letter
E
But I couldn't spell @#$@$
E B7 E
And that's all I got to say
E B7 E
That's all I got to say
(Verse 2)
When I found out you'd been untrue
Not a minute did I delay
I'd a wrote you a letter
But I couldn't spell @#$@$
And that's all I got to say
That's all I got to say
(Bridge)
A
I even went to where we used to go
E
Outside a town
F#
I found the tree where we carved our names
B7
And chopped that jive thing down
(Back to E progression)
(Verse 3)
I burned the tie you gimme
Never dug it anyway
I'd a wrote you a letter
But I couldn't spell @#$@$
And that's all I got to say
That's all I got to say
(Bridge again)
I'm gonna do everything I can
To get even with you
I started today when I wrote your name down
In thirty four telephone booths
(Verse 4)
I burned the tie you gimme
Never dug it anyway
I'd a wrote you a letter
But I couldn't spell @#$@$
And that's all I got to say
That's all I got to say

Ok, today after band practise outside on the beach in the sun, Guy and I started Cubasing my DX-7/Mini tpae but it refused to import to a folder when .mp3ed.
We're working on it, so I can get an actual filesize from a real file saved for two songs not very long.
"cover my six, Sarge!" :sly:
Soon.

My original tapes were live or directly into a Fostex 4-track in 1984 with one keyboard left input and one right and some combination of one middle or none.
No processing, simple mixdown to stereo cassette: the DX-7 is and was fully digital with a hot , complex signal at all times. Not so for the MiniMoog: seat of the pants.
But NOW, Guy is Running/digitizing the tapes from a Nakamichi tapedeck through a Tascam board and onto a PC with Cubase to tweak and make into .cda and .mp3 files.
I have no experience with this and it's not intuitive for me. Thud need rocks and bum bums to make sense, see? Grunt. :cheeky:
