Recently it was pointed out that this archive of music made by TTLG members is hideously out of date. Hardly surprising really, since neither me nor Daxim has maintained it much for ages. Last week I was visiting a friend in Berlin and had a chance to meet up with Daxim, and we discussed the issue. It was clear that neither of us was particularly interested in maintaining it, but I took it upon myself post this thread.
A) If you are a TTLG musician with some of your music here and want it removed, post in this thread and I'll remove it for you. As has been pointed out, most of the stuff is pretty old, and some of you seem to be embarrassed of earlier works. I know I am.
B) If you want some new music you have created uploaded, I can grant you webspace for one (1) song. I'll be taking requests for uploads in #thief tomorrow March 12th from 12:00 to 0:00 GMT. I'll most likely be idle there so I might not respond immediately, but PM me there and I'll hear the beep. If the requests are too numerous and I run out of webspace, I'll provide space on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you miss this particular date and time, you might possibly catch me there from time to time anyways. I'll post in this thread when I'm no longer taking requests.
C) If you have webspace and want to take over, be my guest. As I said, neither me nor Daxim plan to update the archive, so go ahead and take what's there and put it on your own machine.
D) Since I haven't really been visiting TTLG that regularly for some time now, I don't really know if this service is already obsolete and/or has been taken over by someone else. Please keep that in mind.
When/if I get any new tracks and this update cycle is done, the files will stay on the server until whenever I feel like another update is due, which might be never, or at the very earliest, in a few months.

Yay.
I'm getting my Live in Edmonton '75 tape dubbed to .cda and also my 90-minute DX-7/MiniMoog one sooner, many many tunes:
this will be for later; might host it on my Shaw site once it gets up and running.
I don't know how to make such a site but it cannot be hard.
Any help is appreciated after our March 18 gig locally: new flautist/guitarist woman couldn't practise again tonight, dang: she has too much teaching and stuff out of town.
How long a song can be hosted?

Well, I'm not sure exactly, but pretty much until I change my mind. Probably a year or so.

Would you be amenable to replacing a track? The ones of mine you have on there are very old now. I have finished one and the other has been remixed a bit. Actually, there are three there.

On a somewhat related note (given the server :p), I lost my entire not-backed-up-on-CD Tribe folder due to keyboard mishap+extreme braindead software install clumsiness and I was very saddened to see that LG classics' (
http://storm.campus.luth.se/lgclassics/Tribe/) Tribe folder had gone offline.
I haven't gotten to buy the CDs yet, so if anyone has these tracks... please? PM?
(I can even host it if it's a space issue)

E) Replacing tracks is also option; one track removed equals one track added.
(Thanks for reminding me, I intended that in the first place, but forgot. Brain needs batteries.)
[Edit]
I assume Daxim has deleted Tribe due to copyright issues.

Sorry, I mean: what's the maximum filesize/song length that's appropriate?
Gray on 11/3/2005 at 11:23
Ah. I misread you. No song can be longer than a year. In fact, that's probably a bit excessive, so let's say, oh, 10 minutes. Maybe longer if it's just the one song and you give me a good reason.
