Attempting to collect the debt from Liriell Stoine at the rat in the pot

I am trying to collect the debt of 2000 gold from Liriell Stoine at the Rat in the Pot, in Ald'ruhn. I went to look for her brother that was killed seeking his fortune in Millapi. I found him and cleaned out his inventory. I then returned to Liriell and nothing happens. I cant seem to convince her to give me the money by any means (ie. bribes,taunts) even when I use the tel. musk on her. What must I do? I have been stuck on this for quite a while now. Probably something simple that I am not doing.... do you have any suggestions?

She doesn't have the money, however you find around around 1000 gold on his corpse, and the loot in the cave should make up the difference...

but when I return from my quest back to the guy in Vivec that sent me on it he just stands there and looks at me

Weird. Are you sure you've got the right guy? Do you have an option to talk about the debt?

Dont know what it did but I tried going back to him again and for some reason it worked, dont know if I did something diff. or what.
