I know news threads are sort of passé, but considering as this (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/6257194.stm) most recent attack happened right on my doorstep the day before I'm due to fly back home from there. It's a little bit terrifying to realise that I've returned to a country where these (possibly) terrorist attacks are becoming common and local events... what kind of country are we all living in anymore?
It is unknown whether or not these are linked to the (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6255452.stm) attempted bombings in London, but I'm very confused about the nature of the attacks. They are very haphazard and almost all have been done in a very rough and ready fashion, not ringing true of the previous "Al Queda attacks" such the buses and the London underground.
There will be a lot of misinformation and half-truths flying around at the moment but it will be quite interesting to see what comes from the two "asian men" reported seized at Glasgow airport in the wake of this recent attack.

It may all be a bit disconcerting, but ...
Inline Image:
http://i.askask.com/2004/12/dont_panic.jpgOn another forum I visit, people are jokingly complaining about the 'low quality' of these terror attempts, because we are used to the high standards that the IRA used to have. It's kind of insulting to be subjected to such amateur attempts.
:cheeky:

I guess in countries where media makes a big deal about something insignificant.
Quick trivia : How many people died yesterday in the world ?

2 cars loaded with propane, gasoline, and roofing nails set to detonate in heavily-trafficked commercial districts? PFAH! What bourgeouis sentimentality our media has become infected with!

Right at this moment, I'd have to say possibly one too few. EDIT: withdrawn

I read about this yesterday and was amazed it wasn't posted here immediately, but this explains why. This is not a dig of any kind, just a statement of comprehension. I guess too many links have been posted here. It also caused me to remember the incredible depths of fuckwittery to which these kinds of threads can descend.

This is piss-poor terrorism.
D- at best, I'd say.
What have gay nightclubs and the doors of Glasgow airport ever done to you, eh?

I just like to laugh it away with Black humour, or persecute some innocent Muslim on the streets (joke). Either way it doesn't bother me, can't let it stop u living your life, or they win, big up the good old British WW2 spirit.

I don't know about Great Britain, but in the US there is over 40,000 death each year because of car accidents. I guess all those people who died yesterday are not important. I guess that was not spectacular enough.
The problem with media is not "bourgeois sentimentality", it's demagogy.
