By fluke I chose the "Tower" as my birthsign and with the "unlock 50 points" ability was able to join the Morag Tong very early on... in doing so I gained a sort of loyalty to the group and subsequent dislike of their arch-enemies the Dark Brotherhood.
Shortly after proving myself by way of performing writs of execution I was given a task to retrieve several "Sanguine" items from members of the Dark Brotherhood who had apparently stolen them from the Morag Tong god-patron. In the process of reacquisition I noticed other assassins who were not listed as targets carried Sanguine items... recalling "Melphia's?" (Morag tong patron-god) words that Sanguine items belonged only to her and that any mortal carrying such is Dark Brotherhood.
I then decided to wage my own war against the Dark Brotherhood, dispatching any assassin who did not recognize me as their kin. Afterward, I would check their corpse for Sanguine items and if found, return them to Melphia. (If no Sanguine items were found I would of course reload and leave the assassin be)
Unfortunately as with all of my posts, something went wrong: Melphia ceased accepting the items. I realized then I had finished the last quest concerning the Sanguine items, yet there were still dozens left in the hands of Dark Brotherhood members.
I continue to kill Dark Brotherhood in and around Vvardenfell yet do so with a feeling it is in vain. I can only hope someone has retrieved all the Sanguine items and returned them to Melphia... for there must be some form of prize in doing so. If so, please share...
As an unrelated thought: Are there any modifications which allow members of the Morag Tong to continue the fight against the Dark Brotherhood?
