Just finished Episode 1, that was dang good! :D
The writing isn't great, and perhaps filled with too many references. The inter-level artwork is similarly amateurish, but it all makes for such a cohesive whole that it ends up being perfect in a way. A perfect 90's action game story. It kept me hooked till the end and made me wanna take my time with the readables to learn all I could about this world. The campaign also moves along at a zippy pace and none of it overstays its welcome.

The present day ZDoom engine is so far removed from vanilla Doom + IdTech 1. Just look at Selaco, Hedon Bloodrite, Brutal Fate. Calling games made in ZDoom engine "Doom mods" can be considered a disservice.

Wait 'till you play Afterglow, henkster! I really enjoyed the 1st one and LOVED the 2nd. Hope the next part is not too crazy-ass far off from completion. <3

As it happens I just finished Ep 2, Afterglow. Yeah it's way bigger and more ambitious than part 1. Almost too big, honestly. Still, I enjoyed my time with it. Some genuinely very tense bits. Fantastic atmosphere.
Anyone played Hard Reset yet? I wanna play it but I think a need a bit of a break after Ep 2.

Hard Reset? Played a few hours of it when it launched, as well as the redux. It's all right, you're not missing much if you haven't played it, IMO. They went on to do the Shadow Warrior remake after that, which you've probably already played 'cuz it was pretty good.

I'm struggling to remember the finer details but I thought Hard Reset was pretty good. Felt different coming from another mapping team, more Duke Nukem 3D-y if that makes sense, both in the map layout and in the new mechanics. Worth your time and effort but quite tough and not as polished or balanced as the main series. If you need a breather I'd recommend putting this aside for when you're in the mood.

Oooooh, is 1.0 out then? Yay! I might give this a go later, though. I'm currently playing the GZDoom TC mod, Aliens: Eradication. Good shit. :3
