Yeah, I don't see much difference either. Here's hoping that the little bugs are all fixed in this one, though. Maybe even some of the voice acting, too.
I checked out some of the others featured on that site and found that someone is redoing Ultima 4. And damn it looks so nice.:thumb:

You should check it out. Unfortunately, EA are giving people lots of grief over this and have even forced Telemachos to stop making the Ultima 1 remake. As a result of this, they are to continue development of the title but are going to use a different name than Ultima.

(http://www.eragame.com/) www.eragame.com).
It does seem a little bit anal of EA, but, on the other hand, this is <s> starting to look </s> looking better than any of the official Ultima releases.
If I was EA I would have tried to strike another deal, licencing for instance. The word is out: ERA = Ultima 1. In the end there will be few Ultima fans that aren't aware of the fact.
Perhaps EA is entangled in their own web of licences, options and corporate decisions, ignoring simple business logic and the power of 'word of mouth'-marketing. Or maybe EA just doesn't do business with first-time developers. Or maybe something else... anyway IMHO an opportunity is lost where both parties could have benefitted.

Surely the ERA game content has had to be changed as well as the name?
Ultima I by another name is still Ultima I, and EA could probably still sue them. My impression was that they were taking the game engine thwey'd developed, and were making a game in a similar vein to the original Ultima, but it wasn't actually a remake any longer?

They can mix and match, change a few names, move a few towns, delete some characters and add others. The expirience will still be highly similar, but the game will be different enough that they can't sue.
After all, look what they're saying about Arx... can EA sue them?
