Hi all. I got Arx with my new video card, but it wont run. The auto-installer didn't work, but I used the setup file to install. Patched the game to 1.17. I have the "disabling sound makes the game work" problem.
I have an NForce2 motherboard with the latest drivers from Nvidia. I removed/reinstalled the game after updating the drivers.
Has anyone gotten this game to work on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (2.0) motherboard?
I'd appreciate any help. I'd been looking for this game for a time, and then to get it and have it not run really sucks.
For the record I've read all the archives @ jowood. I'm at my wits end.

I too have the same issue. On the same motherboard. Just bought the game a few days ago (luckily very cheap) and I've been searching for any particular information that might help. Sorry that I can't personally add any advice, but I might as well add my voice in here.

I'm still working on it Pheener, I haven't given up yet. I tried it on my brothers computer, and it wont work. (same hardware setup) It almost has to be a problem induced by the onbourd soundstorm. Funny thing is, I put an SBLive 5.1 in mine, disabled the onboard, and loading the latest creative drivers and it still didn't work with the sound on.
I don't know what to do in all honesty. I had my eye on Gothic II, but since this game won't run, I'm wondering if that one will or not also.
I can't believe they delegated Encore to take over support of Arx Fatalis. Have you been to thier site? It's abysmal. There isn't even an Arx forum there, and you can't contact them about ANY technical issues.
I wouldn't be so angry but I've looked forward to playing this game for some time, and now I can't, and there isn't any support. This game shouldn't be available with new hardware if no one is going to support it.
If I come up with anything I'll post it here. If anyone else comes in that has an idea, anything at all. I'd appreciate it.
