Hey all,
I was just curious as to what everyone has tried so far in the demo. I must've replayed the demo at least 10 times so far (more if you count reloads to experiment), and I'm amazed at what you can pull off in just the demo. I havn't been this jazzed about a demo since Deus Ex :D. It seems like every time I check the forums I read about something new that you can do.
Here's what I've messed around with so far...
* Cranked up my strength to see how easily I could pound things.
* Maxed my stealth scores and learned how to pickpocket.
* Enchanted my sword with those mysterious rocks.(couldn't tell what this actually did though, other than make my sword glow)
* Repaired my armor and swords at the anvil.
* Baked some bread, an apple pie, some fish, and ribs.
* Maxed my detection skills to see how that helped finding secret doors
* Maxed my perception out, but I didn't see anything different by doing that.
* Found a few new rune symbols to draw, too bad you can't cast any other spells than those two.
* Tried out the secret UW mode.
* Maxed out my magic scores and ran around with nightvision on for a good 4 or 5 minutes before running out of mana.
* Tried Fishing
* Emptied the wine keg at the bar
There's lots more, but that covers the more interesting things. Anyone else found out something neat you can do? I read in another thread about poisoning your weapon with fern powder, but that didn't seem to work for me. I wonder if there are any cheats? It'd be fun to max out all your stats to see what it's like, or go beyond the unopenable doors in the demo. (Anyone remember the Gothic Demo? With cheats you could see an awful lot more of the game than without them)

I'm completely with you on this one Iazu. Must have played this demo over 10 times now.
So far done all the same things as you except I haven't been able to get the fishing pole to work. I mean, I have the fishing pole, but I haven't as of yet caught anything. Am I fishing in the wrong places? How do I actually use the fishing pole to get fish?
Also I've taken to trying to figure out new runes and new spell combos. Wouldn't it be great if there was a cheat to get some more runes or spells to work.
Damn, I love this demo. Never thought I'd say this, but so far I might actually like Arx better than Deus Ex. I so wish people made more games like this, and I'm thrilled that Raf & Co. are doing this one.

I've only tried it in one spot though, the lake near the outpost. Maybe you need bait? Or there might just not be any fishable area in the demo.

Are you sure? Try wading in the shallow water underneath the waterfall. Am Shaggar is a much better fisherman than the avatar was;). I often end up reeling in 2 fish at a time.

Well, I will admit that I didn't try too long :) Plus I only did it in the lake by the tavern and outpost, not by the waterfall. Looks like I'll be trying that one again :D

yeah, try it in the goblin dungeon.....I was catching fish right next to the campfire, then placing them on it immediately! Good eatin'!
I think maybe the water outside the outpost isn't running....so maybe that's why there are no fish? That and it's shallow...

Cool, I just found out there's a third spell in the demo. I can't believe I missed it. In the spellbook, look to the left and there'll be tabs. You'll already be on the tab for level 1, there's also a tab for level 9 (you have to have all 4 runes to get it). In that tab there's the incinerate spell (up, right , partial U). It gives a pretty neat effect :D

There are four spells actually. At least, thats the highest number of spells that I've had in my book.

unfortunately incinerate and mass incinerate only seem to work on creatures, not humans or goblins. I cast incinerate on the dog outside the tavern and it turned red for a few seconds, and then exploded, I laughed my ass off.

What I tried:
I opened the door where you need the password. With very high picklocking skillpoints. [spoiler]The guy behind the door has a very nice armour (it's the guy at the ending screen of the demo). He wants to kill me. :( Behind the door is a new level and the game says "no level data found"... I think you won't get the password in the demo, hehe[/spoiler]
