Arx was fun...but overall very lacking. - by Neojin

First of all...I've had this demo forever, and was probably one of only 3 people who had a pre order or reserve at EB. The demo, imo was some of the best fun in Arx...mainly because it was creepy, new, and the rope puzzle was fun and NOT irritating.
Arx Fatalis adds a much deeper item interaction element than Morrowind, and I actualy cared about the story, for some reason Morrowind the World drew me in, but its story did not. (although the two storys are insanely similar, almost to the point you wonder if one of them is a form of plagerism.)
8 levels (small ones at that) that you are constantly wondering back and forth to, just does not cut it...after awhile the story/mission became a tiresome druge up and down, and teleporting back and forth.
Also, like Morrowind, melee becomes quite overpowered (although Firewall and Mass Paralyze are two GREAT spells, that were used quite often.) and the challenge factor goes right out the door...to the point where mobs/enemies become an annoyance to race to the end.
I would say once you had to start to find and forge the Ulitmate weapon, the game went downhill. There was nothing new to see...the Dwarven Mines were extreamly boring, no mobs, and no unique puzzles. The Dwemer Ruins in Morrowind were 10x more exciting.
Bakeing pies, and making potions looses their novelty quick. (although I did find myself scrounging for Lilly Pads a few times to make life potions.)
Unfortunatly Arx does not keep a place on my Hard drive like Morrowind does...but it will always have a place in my heart :D
*edit* sorry, didnt noticed till after I posted you split the forum..DOH! :p

Talking about replayability if you've finished the game which end did you get with ALia & the snake women?

Well Neojin, I respect your opinion but I think Morrowind lacks a major element that Arx picks up greatly in.
Atmosphere.
Sure Morrowinds atmosphere was good (I like the game a whole lot) but Arx's atmosphere was a feeling of wow. I felt as if I were truly in a cave throughout the game from the human screams in the goblin prison to the dripping of water in an open cave.
The storylines in the game were similar but I found them to be very different in one aspect. Capture. Arx's storyline had me captured from the moment counsel was held in the castle. At that moment I had to finish the game and NOW! Morrowind's story was like, "Oh that's nice, I'll want to finish this game."
But once again I respect your opinion and would hope you won't take Arx from your hard drive (which is a sin :cheeky: ).
