Cool stuff, hope they pull it off. The world needs another Arx game.
Having some support from Arkane is definitely a plus.

Wow. That was totally unexpected; I never imagined that anyone was still working on modding this game. I also hope that they pull this off as these types of things a rarity these days.

Just to be pedantic: It's not a mod for Arx itself. It's for Doom 3.
It seemed like they've been working on it for a while before the moddb reveal. It turns out they revealed it on the Arkane forums last October.

Oh god they're reproducing the awful gesture-casting system. That was by far my least favorite thing about Arx.

But granted, Arx's gesture recognition was a bit fiddly.
I programmed my own a couple of years ago which was much smoother and forgiving (yet still quite specific when distinguishing between shapes). From what I can gather they're using a similar direction based system, instead of Arx's system that seems more point based.

I never had a problem with drawing the spell symbols. Except when I tried the secret ones..now they are hard. I don't think I was ever successful at those.:angel::)
