I am somewhat suprised that people have already started asking about level help before the obligatory "ARX RULES!" thread came to pass. And I am sure that there are lots of people crazy about this game.
To provide an outlet for the doubtlessely huge current of biased and unbiased praise and jubilation, I hereby annouce the first ttlg "ARX RULES!" thread. Those of you who have been waiting for the time to gush endlessely about the games various cool features may do so at thier own leisure with the purpose of enthralling us poor people who will sadly not be getting the game for a week or two. People who have not played the game, in true fanboy fashion, may ALSO praise the game.
...so who gets to start?

There have been so many improvements in the interface since the demo.
It is soooooooooo great!
I've met only one problem : the scrolling 2D picture telling the story of Arx in the intro is not displayed (the screen stays black during the speech). I've tried several versions of recent Detonator drivers (I've got a GeForce4 Ti4400) but it stays black while I could see the image with both early English and later German demos.

Hmm.. check out the readme; it states that one series of Detonators won't work (I think it's the 4.X, but double-check to be sure). Me, I had no problms seeing it and I've got a Ti4600 (so I doubt it's a hardware architecture issue).
Me, I'm loving the dark ambiance the whole place exudes; it's a rare game that makes my hackles rise ;)

But they work great with every other games I've played and they are faster, and, and, and... I'm not keen to reinstall ye olde Detonator 30.82 WHQL... :(

According to NVIDIA ((
www.nvidia.com)) the 40.xx serie is still NOT CERTIFIED.
We recommend you to install the 30.82 Certified DETONATOR as you will experience no problem with this ones.

We recommend you to install the 30.82 Certified DETONATOR as you will experience no problem with this ones. For your information, the
Detonator 40.72 have just turned WHQL.
And since I tried the 40.72 when they weren't WHQL, I doubt that there will be any sensible difference between the two releases.
Also, my problem does not only occur in the intro but in all the 2D cut-scenes (e.g. the speech in the fort and the cutscene when entering Arx for the first time).
I saw the intro and the fort attack in the demo so that was OK. But now, I have to stop playing the game until I find some remedy because I don't want to miss anything. :(
PS : OK I've read on the tech forum of JoWood that someone had the same problem as I with Deto 40.xx and that 30.82 fixed it. So I'll reinstall the old drivers.
But I'm not certain that the problem really comes from nVIDIA so I suggest you have a look at how you display the 2D cutscenes... ;)

About the 2D cutscenes, currently we're trying to get Nvidia working on it, because we didn't have the problems with previous drivers, or with any other hardware so far. The game was released before the drivers were approved, we can't change our exe everytime a hardware company releases new drivers, I really think it's their duty to make sure their latest drivers are 100% compatible with the previous ones.

You're probably right.
Anyway, I've just returned to 30.82 (which decreases my 3DMark2001SE scrore from 12300 to 11400) and the game works perfectly.
By the way, congratulations for all the bugfixing you've done so far. I've played all the evening (from 22:00 to 03:00) without any crash to desktop. Now this is what I call stability! :thumb:

I've just installed the OFFICIAL Microsoft-certified nVIDIA Detonators 40.72 WHQL on my Windows XP / GeForce4 Ti4400 / DirectX 8.1 system and the bug is still there : I CAN'T SEE CUTSCENES (the screen remains black).
So I'll have to return to the oooold Detonators 30.82 which are 10% slower. :(
