Hi, I'd just like to keep everyone updated on the progress - since 1.0 we have released two patches:
1.0.1: Fixes text rendering bug in 1.0 that breaks the Russian version, a crash on some Linux systems and uses DirectX by default for rendering and input under Windows. You can still select the renderer in the video settings and if you set it to anything other than the default "Auto-Select" nothing will change for you. ((

1.0.2: Fixes various crashes, disappearing items when sorting the inventory, and minor rendering and input bugs. This release also fixes a bug that left the Spanish version with no text. ((

Windows and Linux binaries (and source code) are available on the (

Thank you, dscharrer. There are certainly Arx fans here who are unlikely to see the news elsewhere :) Much appreciated!

Just to be clear: the source code for the game was released, but it's not free itself, correct? I don't want to sound like I'm being super-cheap, but the game being not free will push it down my list of priorities for now, until I've played other games that I have already paid for :p.

This is awesome. Love it. Works pretty well save for the frame-drop bug and slow cursor. But I already mentioned those on the IRC.

This is so awesome!
I´ve bought Arx on Steam two days ago to finally play it for the first time.
Irritatingly the mouse look and the total feel of the game was jerky and jittery so that I certainly wouldn´t have played it like that.
Arx Libertatis totally fixed these issues for me and plays/feels great!
Thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Christian

That's really good to hear. I actually caved when I saw Arx was $2 on Steam... then Steam wouldn't accept my credit card. So I bought it from GoG instead :p. I'll probably check out Arx Liberatis soon - IIRC, AL reads AF save files, right?
(Was disappointed to read that the inventory hasn't been 'fixed' yet. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but having to drag around items individually rather than a stack at a time gets old fast. That aside, I really love this game.)

Yes. But AL save files cannot be read by AF.

You can shift+drag stacks of items in both AF and AL. Only shift-dragging stacks to the ground doesn't work (yet).

Oh, I feel dumb. That makes things much easier. I didn't think the developers would overlook something as obvious as that!
