lets not degenerate this thread into a flame fest.
the points listed here are for arx's benefit..its upto them to make the most of
this input from their loyal fans and make the most of it.
nobody likes anyone picking holes in their code (myself included).
everyone has really high hopes that arx will be the next uw & we will see
the rebirth of what could be the next looking glass... :)
......on the other hand......no one wants another pool of radiance/ultima 9 either....
that would kill them & any hopes of anyone even attempting such a project in the
future.
so..post honestly & tell it like it is...if some parts suck so be it & if some parts
are good then let them know..
...this kind of hardhitting positive/negative feedback & grassroots support is incredibly
hard to come by & heres hoping they make the most of it.....
kudos to ttlg & co for hosting this in the first place...

Everybody should get the Geforce4, I agree, (wish I could though) a few weeks ago I sold my Geforce3 (reinstalled a geforce2 ultra) to raise cash for the Geforce4 4600, but then discovered that my motherboard was incompatible with the bloody Geforce4. Damn, I have one of those new MSI motherboards and it's killing me not being able to get a Geforce4 running properly.

well i'd *love* to buy a geforce4
i could really use it for my programming..
but unfortunatly, for the last year i've been flying to canada (i live in the netherlands)
every 2 to 4 months or so because my fiancee is there
(immigration is hell and takes forever, been waiting for a year now)
so in other words: i've got no cash at all
a few weeks ago i bought an xbox in america
and the powerconverter they sold me in radioshack was bad
(they even asked me what i would be using it for, so it's definitely their fault)
and it blew up my xbox here in europe
damnit, now i need to get it fixed somehow
i really need it to be able to play halo, and eventually duesex2 & thief3
so now i have even less cash
sigh,
c'est la vie (such is life)

Uh:
If you own now a Geforce 1 DDR, go buy a Geforce 3 TI 200 - it is about the best what you get for little money: it blows the Geforce 4 MX series away - but isn't as pricey as the Geforce 3 TI 500 or forbid the new GF 4 ones
Apart from that: If you can raise the money for a flight to Canada, you can certainly raise the little bits for a GF 3.
(Of course, kudos for having the right priorities ;)
And apart from that, for what do you need a Geforce 4 for *programming*? The only reason I can think of is graphics programming, and if you are in that field, you have enough knowledge to get a decent amount of cahs for your work - if not, you are certainly doing something wrong ;)
Anyway, this is totally off topic now - so let's keep it out of here.

well if i wasn't a graphics programmer i think i wouldn't want to upgrade for some time anyway, there aren't any games out yet for which my geforce1 is too slow..
so why buy a >gf3?
But as a graphics programmer i could really use a graphics card with pixel shaders and stuff..
as for my job, i have a really crappy job right now, low pay, bad hours, long travel time from and to work (without compensation) etc. etc.
But unfortunatly i can't leave there while the whole immigration process for my girl is going on.. if i change jobs, the whole process will start all over again
and i've already been waiting for about a year..
