[spoiler]I'm currently searching the goblin castle for the trolls' magic idol, so that they will start clearing the route to the outpost. I've gained permission to enter the vault, and I am trying to open a red metal box which my intuition tells me holds the prize, but I can't pick it nor find the key. Can anyone help me get the idol?[/spoiler]
Also, for some reason I've been given access to a 7th-level spell, Fire Field, even though my magic score is only 41%. What gives?

[SPOILER]The quartermaster wants to ruin the current king, so he stoke the idol and placed it in that chest. He has the key. It's somewhere in his room. If you still can't find it, I'll give a more direct hint.[/SPOILER]

[SPOILER]I suspected that for a while (how else would the idol be there), so I assassinated him and nicked a gold key off him, but that wasn't it (that's what I like about RPGs - violence CAN solve everything). I'll now search his room more thoroughly.[/SPOILER]

[SPOILER]You do have to kill the quartemaster no matter what. He will lock the door, then attack you, once you have opened the chest (which is, I believe, booby trapped).[/SPOILER]

Ok, I've finished that quest. Are there any more quests tied to that particular bunch? Can I kill them all now?

I'm not at the end of the game but haven't had any more use of the guys yet. Still, I wouldn't bet I'll never need to talk to them again. Be nice. Let them live. :)

The trolls become upset with you if you wipe out the goblin city, as no one is around to buy their gems. Oddly, no one seems to complain if you wipe out the trolls.
Maybe one of you can help me with something goblin-related:
