I wanted to see if Arx Fatalis was something I might want to play. Thief is getting a bit stale after 3 years even with the 250+ fan missions that I've played. I downloaded the demo .zip file, ran the setup, and ran it but it errored immediately (an app error dialog appeared). I tried to apply the patch but wasn't sure if it works on the demo version. The patch complained that a couple files couldn't be copied over, so I unzipped into a separate path and copied the files over into the Arx installation directory. Nope, still got the app error when trying to run the game.

I'm on Windows 2000. My 3+ year-old Thief runs on that. There is very little info at (www.arkane-studios.com) about system requirements but I did find them at a link they had to another web site. Windows 2000 is listed as supported. But does the *demo* run on Windows 2000?
