Does anyone know if Arx Fatalis will come with editing tools? Even if it's something like WorldCraft that would be pretty cool.

I think it is not plan to come with editing tools : they have nothing else than their own editor, Theo, which they don't want to sell

Actually, they do intend on releasing the tools now, which is great news indeed. Julien@Arkane admitted this in the following thread

the feature julien@arkane is talking in about in that thread, was described in the interview (
http://notrecause.free.fr/) at Les Esclaves d'Akbaa as follows:
Quote:
Well, in the final version, all the data directories will certainly be packed in one big file. But as many other games do, before looking for ".\SOUNDS\PLAYER\hit.wav" inside this big file, the game will look in the game root directory for this same file and if it exists, it will use it instead of the packed one. The same is true for textures, models, etc.
So modifications will be easy and encouraged ! So it's not an editor as such, but the data files will be easy to get to, and will be easy to install on other systems. So mod packages should be quite simple in structure.
I think it's still up to us to figure out the format of the 3d files, levels and scripts (btw Dubs already did some work on this)...

So basically there's no "tool" per se, but you can get into the games data files, like the CRF packages in Thief? That actually is more fun, in my opinion! I tried to do that with Morrowind's BSA file but ended up corrupting the game instead. Damn Bethesda. ;)
