Okay, I think the game is going to be great and I can't wait to get it, but I can't help wondering whther its going to go the same way the strategy game "Magic & Mayhem" did (by Mythos games).
M&M is an example of a great game that got rave reviews in ALL the magazines and played very well ........... but flopped when it came to sales!
Eventually i saw stacks of them being sold in bargain bins and i felt like saying to everyone "Please save this poor lonely game its sooo brilliant ......"
I really hope this doesnt happen to arx. Still "Gothic" did well, although it did not get much shelf space in the UK, but I guess in the rest of Europe it had good sales (well enough to let tham make gothic 2 .......)
I can think of another generally overlooked game "System Shock 2". These are games which should have been up there with the bestsellers - but no, sorry, they are obviously too original for the masses who like bread and butter FPS and RTS. What a shame!

It happens.
Moonbase Commander comes to mind.
As does Freespace 2.

I've never heard of Magic & Mayhem.
But if Arx did not sell well, that wouldn't be my fault because I've bought it. :)

When i bougth the game, the retailer said it was very difficult to find... he had 25 boxes of Arx the 26 in the morning and 2 hours later, i bought the last one, so...

Actually I think it may sell better than gothic. I guess there is more people who remember the glory of underworld and want to go back there. Hopefulyl it will have more shelf space - i only ever saw one copy of gothic in GAME!

Arx seems to sold well here in france...
I saw it at the 4 th position in the top selling games this week ! (at least in two different resellers )
A great news for Arkane and so... for us !
