I bought Arx the day it came out from EB. For a while I saw the game at Best Buy, but never at Comp USA or Frys, two of the larger retailers out here in San Jose. I have to wonder as to what kind of distribution channels JoWood/Arx has and how well it's sold. I'm kind of surprised that there isn't any shelf stock available. This could be a good thing or bad. Since Arx2 is happening it must have done fairly well, but we all know that good games don't go mega with just word of mouth.
Just wondering, anybody know how many copies have sold?

I was wondering the same. I even sent you a PM back then to ask where (which EB?) you got it so I didn't have to waste time going all over town.

Not sure really. Although they have sold enough to allow Arkane Studios to make a sequel.
As far as JoWood is concerned, you can look at their <a href="http://profiles.wisi.com/profiles/scripts/page3.asp?cusip=C040L3170&curconv=040">overall sales performances up to 2002</a> and an <a href="http://profiles.wisi.com/profiles/scripts/corpinfo2.asp?cusip=C040L3170">overall summary</a>. I do know, however, that they came close to bankruptcy earlier this year.

Sorry I didn't reply Brad - didn't see your message, but then my personal email is so deluged with spam that I sometimes don't read everything. FYI the EB at the Great Mall in Milpitas, near my office.

Holy crap. I work up there, too. Go by that place every day.
Don't worry about the PM. I understand about email garbage issues.

*waves to her San Jose neighbor boyz*
EB at Valley Fair has (or had) it too, I was eyeing it there before receiving my copy of Arx as a surprise gift from a wonderfull friend :cheeky:

Yeah, that's the only EB I knew of at the time so I ended up getting it there. All beat up and everything. Must of been a struggle.;)

Imagine-Silicon Valley has a gamer colony. Who'd a thunk it.

Well, we have to keep a low profile in public y'know... don't want the idea catching on too much. ;)
I don't think I have the look of a gamer/geek... so salespeople always assume a) I know nothing and/or b) I'm shopping for my husband (sort of like what I get in the powertools section of Home Depot). When in reality I typically know far more than any of them (this is a given at Fry's of course).
FYI Brad, there's an EB at Vallco as well :)
*Considers yelling out the window "TTLG REPRESENT!!" to see if she gets a reply... (well, other than "shut the fuck up!")

Is it me or is this seeming a lot like a private chat room?:D
As far as being thought of as a gamer or geek, I'd not be given too much grief I'm sure. Mostly because I hate asking for help in the first place because its rare I get it. Also, because I'm not easily intimidated by smart/knowledgable people. I can fit in pretty well.

Well, yell it towards the boulevard and I'll howl back.
