The above interview is in French, but it looks as though its going to have outdoor terrain (the wilderness) as well in the sequel, which will probably mean interaction with the Guild of Travellers. They are also planning on improving stealth a lot more as well.

for those of us who might need some help with the language:

What I can gather from this, is that Raf only mentions there will be 'an exterior'. no further specification.
What I'd personally would like to see is a extremely cold and hostile environment where you can only travel so far because of the extreme cold*, but you still get this immense sense of space/being lost (like the exteriors in the recent "The Thing")
*) of course you'll need to acquire a <s>radiation suit</s> traveller's guild parka before you can even contemplate stepping outside....
---
Another thing mentioned by Raf is the reduction of the number of levels one can achieve in certain skills; and fuller/richer possibilities for the thief and and fighter type characters... Maybe this time we get a full range of bows (maybe even a range of arrows)... With their newly acquired physics engine, bows could be so much fun...
:D

It'll be nice to play outdoors in the Arx world, sure it'll be mostly frozen wastes, but those abandoned cities will be interesting and of course any new inhabitants.

First of all, the interviewer asks Raf about his previous experiences and the making of Arx. During his answers, Raf mentions "Arx 2", and according to him the game will be much more focused on "immersion" and "details" than "having 347 000 dungeons and 212 000 quests and subquests". They have been working on Arx 2 for "some time", it is rather vague.
Besides, the skill system will be changed so as to make the three characters more interesting. For instance, the warrior will have warrior skills, stealth will be improved, and there will be a second magic school. Speaking of skills, they will no longer be based upon figures but instead on stages. (That is to say, an "ON/OFF system") There will also be other surprises, but it is too early to speak about them.
However, there is something in the interview that I do not fully understand. The question was "Will there be wilderness?" and Raf answered "Yes", but then spoke about stealth and skills. Maybe a question is missing from the transcription of the interview.
That is about all concerning Arx 2, I may sum up the rest of it though if somebody is interested. ;)

With an X-Box version of Arx slated, Arx 2 might be delayed, but at least the console suckers will be financing their future work...I just hope they don't get stupid and lock themselves into a pact with the devil. Or worse, start developing "for X-Box and PC", which I suspect gives the Corporation the right to stupid up the game. Can't go broke pandering to idiots, you know.

Concerning the guy above me :tsktsk:
*cue bitter "simultaneous-console/pc-development" comments*
(though to be honest, i agree -- T3 and DX2 will be hindered, even if it's on a small scale, by the parallel development for consoles.)
