I liked Beowulf. My wife likes any of the Harry Potter books. In the future, I'll read Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

I liked ASOIAF, including a feast for crows. A lot.
AFFC is not as good as the other books, but AFFC is half of a book anyway (you can read about the ordeal in most fantasy lit sources if you care, i'm sure) but I really really liked all the stuff about the Ironborn and The Drowned God.
There is a plenty of sex fantasy stuff going on in ASOIAF, which would be fine if omitted but no one makes anyone read that anyway. If you don't want to then don't do it.
A note about Liveship traders, I tried to get into it but just couldn't. It's a piece of crap compared to the Farseer whatever and the three Fool's blahblah books.
Robin Hobb, and GRRM are both by my count good authors.
(and for the record I can't fscking stand godamned Robert freakin Jordan)
Unfortunately, I have yet to discover good pirate stuff.

Jamie's plot was really the best part and even then, it was still weak.
I mean, honestly, a big part of the problem is that the main plots are just not present in this book - there's no wall, there's no dragons, so no ice and no fire, and that's ultimately what this series is all about!
No way nigga (lol wrong thread) I really liked aFfC, except maybe Brienne's chapters. I wanted to like them, as they contain a load of cool stuff. But ultimately, until Brienne's plot develops in a meaningful way, so much time languished upon her seems a bit unneccessary. I for one really liked seeing in greater detail the Iron Islands, the Vale and Dorne and their politics and planned plot developments
fire and blood
But my favourite chapters were Cersei's. Such wonderful descent into disasters and misjudgements that Machiavelli would laugh at.
Stand out sentence of the book:
The worst is just beginning, and there are no happy endings. I just can't wait :)
