I'm not sure but I believe the thing is in the private quarters or in the bedrooms.
Think it was in a room with a person in it (in the room, not the helmet :) )
In a locked chest i believe
I'm really sorry if this is wrong but I'm sure that there is nobody wearing it.

This one's easier than it sounds... find the lord of the manor in question, and look on <u>top</u> of the dresser behind him. The only real trick is inserting a jump into the usual sneak-and-snatch maneuver you have to do.
