I just found out that you can give better weapons to your fellow stalkers :). However these stalkers must be equipped only with a simple handgun like Makarov. To give a weapon, simply drop it next to the stalker and he should pick it up. Also if you want to give them unlimited ammo for this weapon, make sure it's fully loaded ;).

This is a known trick, AI stalkers will pick up guns that are
a) better than their current weapon, and
b) have a full clip of ammo
Arming the rookies is a good way to defeat the military invasions of the newbie village, I'm told.. ;)
...and I just realized myself that it might be possible to use this to get the scoped SIG SG-550 from one of the Freedom gateguards without killing him...

Injured stalkers drop their rifle slot weapon - grab the dropped weapon off the ground and drop a fully loaded replacement firearm next to the injured ally THEN heal them.
Good way to upgrade your weapon while downgrading the npc's

That exploit allows us to repeat the 'Get the Dutyer weapon' mission over and over again. All one has to do is to drop a good enough rifle near the guy at the Bar, and he'll drop the Storming Obokan.

Does this still work with the latest patches?
I've been trying to give some of the guys with pistols at the Garbage camp better guns but they don't want to take them

As far as I know, it still works. You'll have to make sure that the guns you're trying to give them are fully loaded. I've never seen them swapping a pistol for an assault rifle though, just swapping one assault rifle for another one.

How unfortunate. Oh well. Guess I'll have to lug a couple of obukans or better over there and see if that works.
I'm sick of patching up these guys. I know I probably shouldn't care but I have aspirations of leadership, or something. :p

I'm not saying that the rookies won't swap a pistol for any assault rifle. I'm just saying that I've never tried it myself. The only thing that I know is that the weapon you're trying to give them must be fully loaded to be attractive enough for them to pick it up.
