Guys I'm at this masked party and trying to find out who Lady Boyle is but the guard told me I can't go upstairs! What do I do!?!?

You should probably go ahead and ragequit. The game is simply too difficult.

Lol
In other news - I'm taking this in bite sized chunks because so far, I'm really enjoying it. The plot is okay (I'm pretty far in) but the maps and gameplay are such fun for stealth and exploration.
This really is like a love letter to Thief.
I reiterate for goddamn truth; the movement and mantling is perfect. I don't think I can go back to a worse version.

Because it made me nearly clap my hands in glee.
I did clap with glee. There are loads of Thief references in this but that one was just great.

So I bought this on DVD but then had to have a Steam account for installation anyway. No problem, since I lately got one for Black Mesa.
But now my girlfriend says she'd like to try Dishonoured. Normally I'd just place the DVD in her computer and that'd be it. But I have a suspicion it won't be that easy with the Steam activation thingie.
Does anyone have any experiences in that regard? Is it possible? Or is it a single computer activation license?
In any case the game doesn't seem to support player profiles.

You'll have to let her borrow your Steam account.
Kolya on 14/10/2012 at 16:29
That's fine, but as I see it, we'd be overwriting each other's auto saves. Guess we'll just have to be careful and use hard saves.
van HellSing on 14/10/2012 at 16:32
Hmm, she'll be playing on a different computer, right? So just deactivate the cloud function. Or put Steam in offline mode altogether.

I got Dishonored for my bday, and I'm totally loving it! Almost like playing Thief for the first time, almost. I don't have any deep analysis of the game or anything, I just wanna share my first impressions: :D :D :D :D :D :D
But what surprised, even disappointed me a little was that the marketing seems to emphasize the kill-everything -strategy. I wanted to show a good sneaky cinematic trailer to someone who doesn't play that much, but all I could find was stab stab splatter gore, death from above, below and both sides etc. :erg:

If she starts a new game, this shouldn't be a problem, should it?
Kolya on 14/10/2012 at 18:46
Well if you start a new game it informs you that your save games will be overwritten and with steam syncing everything I figured this would be carrying over to another computer, but as pointed out I could turn off the syncing function for this game on the other computer and should be good. Thanks van HellSing.
As far as impressions go I'm still at the first mission with Campbell who somehow drank his own poison muahahah and enjoying every bit. :D
