I may be an idiot, but I'm not sure I've heard Stephen Russell yet. Is he Daud, the assassin leader?

He is the boat man, he is also a thug in a back alley argueing about loot split (behind doctor/across from art dealer) early in the game. I think I have heard him elsewhere also.

I didn't see him listed in the credits, so unless he's doing an uncredited cameo, I don't think he's in there. : \Yes. That's right. I beat it. Excellent game, well worth a second, third, or fourth playthrough. In fact, the only trouble I'm having is deciding whether to attempt a full on ghost-through, or go hog wild bloody violent on everyone.

The Gametrailers review felt a bit off to me - fairly little talk of stealth. My impression was that they were playing it as a shooter, or at best as a stealth shooter (emphasis still on shooter).
One thing that struck me, though: they criticised that floodlights can't be removed by shooting them, and at least in the short, out-of-context clips they showed it did seem like a (minor) immersion breaker. Those of you already playing the game, how good is it at avoiding moments where the world is less fully realised than you'd expect?
Anyway... I won't get to this game before November or December, but it's definitely one of the two current titles I'm most excited about. (It's probably easy to guess what the other one is... :cheeky:)

If it would help, I could set up a Jomero paypal account that you have to pay me 50 cents every time you use blink. And you would know that your hard-earned money is being spent on cheap booze or something (ok I don't drink, but it wouldn't be toward a good cause).
:D
Well hell. I guess you can donate the $50 coming your way to a nice charity or something if you don't want to spend it on Night Train and trashy hookers.
Gotta say, I'm rather disappointed. I was hoping for some funny drunk posts here in the near future. We don't get nearly enough of those around here anymore.

Well, this game has been quite wonderful this far and I've yet to even start the first assasination. I'm going non-lethal sneaky stuff (not ghosting) the first run. My only problem this far is that I should have probably went guns blazing the first run, because it's probably fun as hell. The vision system and sneaking in this game feel great, because instead of emphasis on shadows it has emphasis on movement, placement and verticality. The point is to move swiftly, use verticality and distractions, there simply isn't an option to sit at dark shadows one meter away from guards.
The only thing I've found a bit odd is that you're (apparently) completely silent when crouching/sneaking and with blink et al, you're fast as hell anyways. The only reason to not crouch is when you're caught and then the noise running makes is insignificant. What I am getting at is that I miss those points in Thief for example, where you're moving swiftly on a carpeted floor, which changes to metal and noticing way too late you go "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

Don't let it fool you. Though sound doesn't play nearly as big of a role here as it does in Thief, there have been more than a few times I've alerted the guards to my presence by running along, assuming I was too low and too far away to be heard.

Just finished playing the first mission on Dishonored (up to the first stat screen and talking to some people after it), and I was like, this is exactly like Thief (I had stayed away from spoilers) , even the base plot setup with City Watch and a Church (Overseer); even seeing that "Ghost" stat on the screen, also, you have a mechanical zoom eye; not real, but still. I wonder if anyone posted a forum list stating the similarites.
I'll be playing this without any direction or goal, mostly knocking people unconscious, but killing when I want to or I accidently do (not going to use auto-load from this point on) It's only on my other playthroughs will I have a goal:
2nd = kill everyone [hopefully this won't be extermely hard like it sounds like],
3rd = knock everyone unconscious,
4th = ghost. Yeah, those trophies might be unlocked in about 5 years, it'd be funny if there was a 'Kill Everyone' trophy.
Also, did anyone notice in the manual that the Bones are enchanted by some 'entity' that isn't related to the church. It reminds me of how in Thief the Trickster was mentioned over and over again before finally appearing seemingly out of nowhere.

You'll be seeing more of that soon enough. ;)

This game brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Musta been rats." :cheeky:
(Btw, I actually heard a guard say that, along with "Just the wind, I guess.")
Made it through the first full mission (Overseer), and had a blast. I took it slow and it took me an entire evening to finish. This game is awesome, although it has been consolized a bit, but not enough to matter that much. I do think though even on Very Hard, it was a bit too easy. But still fun. That said, it ain't Thief by a longshot. Not yet at least. But who cares, its its own cool setting and game, a much needed original IP in an era of overdone sequels.
That doesn't really sound like Stephen Russell as The Boat Man to me, but with his varied voice talent it wouldn't surprise me.
