The entire game can be finished without killing anyone, so yeah.
I have it, even though I won't be able to play it for awhile and I promised myself I'd wait until it was $5. Oh well.

They pulled a 451 gag. We have nothing to worry about.

And to the surprise of no one, those minimum reqs are bullshit. At least, it runs on an XP system that doesn't meet any of them.

Is there something odd with the perspective, or does everyone have huge hands in this game? I figured it's part of the art style but it's hard to be sure.

I know it's early but does anyone know if this game will be modding-friendly? Have SDK's or anything like that been announced?
I was gonna wait this one out a bit but the reception has been so good I might pick it up on release. Trying to decide whether to go with the PC or 360 version though.
Also, if anyone has links to where one might order this on the cheap, in Europe, don't hesitate to post them.

How scalable is the eye-candy ? I don't see that discussed anywhere.
I have a decent machine now (gtx680 + i5-3570k). So I want to make games look as good as possible.
What types of AA are available ? Only FXAA ? TXAA even ? Or MSAA as well ? Has anyone tried (
http://mrhaandi.blogspot.nl/p/injectsmaa.html) SMAA in stead of FXAA ?
Is there an option for SSAO (Ambient Occlusion) ? Anyone tried to force it through the drivers ?
Any other good, nice, spectacular or unusual options in the graphics settings ?

Spoilers much?
Twit.
Spoilers? The most I said about the actual game was that I got chased through a door, and that I was forced to kill a couple times. Oh and that the start is somewhat similar to HL2, but what does that even mean?
I didn't say ANYTHING specific about the plot at all.

Fuck the naysayers. This shit is RIGHT. Just get it.

SPOIL ALERT... discussion about game mechanics and visuals and menu options inbound!!!!
Yes, characters have big hands, I think it's the art style, nothing else seems distorted as far as FOV goes imo.

Well, there is a 'downloadable content' button in the menu. It's on Steam and Steamworks is becoming quite popular. Also Skyrim has a mod base on Steamworks (I know they only distribute the game but...).
I think there is a good chance it's planned.
360 has a 30 fps cap and a lower max FOV. PC looks like it will be moddable. I'd go PC.
GreenManGames? people were saying they got it for $45.. still uses steam. Don't know if that was preorder only though.

There isn't ssao, I don't think it's needed, though it might have baked light info. There is great lighting/shadowing. Though you can't hide in shadows, you have to hide behind stuff.
It has FXAA and MLAA (never heard of it before but that is the max setting and I am getting no jaggies at 1600xw/e, have to play most games no higher than 1400x900)
Honestly on all high settings I am not wanting it to be any more beautiful, it certianly beats out Skyrim imo. Skyrim had the long veiws that were awesome but suffered up close. This game is clean up close (but also has a 'watercolor filter' to everything) and everything far away (city backdrops, not playable areas) is fogged. But it all looks great.
There aren't really too many settings for graphics, ie specular... there's aa, res, high details, model, texture, rat shadows.

edit
As far as playtime thing goes. on normal (can be changed during game).
I spent two hours poking around, getting used to the game in the first map. I ended up 300 short on loot (nice to have loot in stats screen) and had 9 kills. Wanted to change that so I replayed and in an hour I finished still about 300 short on loot (damn) and did it with two kills. One guy surprised me and I didn't want to reload...
As far as run and gun style...
A game like HL2 might not be much bigger but they continually spawn ai and robots to kill. So that takes a long time to clear a level. This game is like Thief (so far at least), there are a set amount of ai (maybe more on harder? i dont know). So if you run and gun you are sure to clear out the ai quicker. Though HL2 loot was only moar ammo/food.
This game has loot counter so you have to explore to find it.
Though I think a run and gun/how fast can I do this playstyle would be fun for another run through at some point.

So far this game just seems to be oozing Thief/Bioshock/Halflife2.
That may be a problem for me, because I didn't particularly like the last 2 games. I'm afraid that the mix could appear a bit too 'motley' and fancy.
