(
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-10-08-dishonored-review) Eurogamer not falling all over themselves to give it laurels (not that that makes any difference to me).
I did notice this:
Quote:
The dual-wiedling, magic-and-melee first-person combat suggests The Elder Scrolls, but has deeper roots in Arkane Studio's Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah. The methodical pace harks back to Thief, while the option to murder or incapacitate your primary targets in a variety of opportunistic ways comes direct from Hitman. Even the way side stories are told through audio logs, books and notes suggests Arkane Studios absorbed some of Rapture's ambience while assisting on
BioShock 2.
Or, maybe another game Harvey Smith worked on 16 years earlier called
System Shock.
Nit picky I suppose. But it kinda bugs me more than usual because I'm pretty sure Whitehead is the sort of guy who would know this, but made that circuitous connection instead to hit closer to the general historical indifference of the audience.

Damn, I wonder why I have been waiting 3 years like a moron for THI4F, this is the game I should have been waiting instead of letting all my hopes rest on a "THIAF" which we still haven't heard the slightest drop of official information.
Tomorrow I'm getting my copy of the game, and I really can't wait anymore, it's been so long since I could s ghost like a boss in a FPS(neaker)

Rock Paper Shotgun have a pre-review or something.
Verdict is good.

Good reviews all around. Edge, Eurogamer, and RPS give it a bunch of appreciative adjectives and use words like 'incidental detail', 'readables', and 'world building' that hearken back to the good ol' LGS greats. It almost makes me wish I'd just bit the bullet and bought it digitally on Steam instead of pre-ordering a retail copy for cheap... now I've got to wait for it to be delivered sometime next week. But what the heck, penny saved = penny earned, so whahey.
Bring on the mini reviews this week, guys!
Also: shouldn't this game deserve its own forum? LGS/TTLG personnel worked on it, after all.

You didn't play Human Revolution? It was pretty good, bosses aside.

That usually doesn't happen until a game is released, so maybe after tomorrow.

Just sitting here twitching/waiting/pretty excited.
Bought it on steam, it's pre-loaded, they just have to release it. Knowing steam that could be anywhere from one hour to four hours away....
HURRY UP!!!
