If this comes with mod tools and you can make fan maps, I think that would easily bump up my anticipation for this game a few dozenfold. I can't even think of the last game I was excited to mod for... I was hoping Mirror's Edge would have had a better scene. Before that...? Deadly Shadows maybe, and that also didn't really deliver as much as I'd hoped for. But the way maps are made these days, so much of them are func statics custom made for the map... Doesn't lend itself to generic fan mapping.

It's all the third party middleware that screws up the UDK ones like DS and Mirror's Edge. ME in particular, you could make kinda working maps for it, but the physics and lighting were special implementations or something. People have kinda figured it out now, but the ship has sailed. It's definitely a game crying out for fan maps.

These last two videos sold me way more than the official trailer. The game sounds more and more like Thief - first-person, steampunk, no forced killing, hiding bodies, mission-based, multiple paths to victory - and of course they mentioned Thief (and Deus Ex and Arx) in their list of inspirations/influences. Overall pretty awesome - its weird, I think I gave up on the idea that anyone would actually make a game like this ever again.
Now, the player does seem overpowered in the vids, but I'm sure they're just showing off all the gameplay features and fancy effects.

I think you're all missing the point here.
Where can I has t-shirt like Raphael?!?

I think it's OK to clarify something about those videos, which many of you have already figured out, since it's clarified elsewhere. The character build he's playing with is a maxed-out cheat for the demo. In a real playthrough if you examine every square inch of the game and find every rune, every upgrade, every coin, you might have 3/4ths of it by the final map. During this level in the real game, you're just going to have a tiny portion of it.
The point though is that the player could potentially have any aspect of this build during this level.

That actually made me laugh. "What are your inspirations?" *list of games they worked on*

Good vids. Man some parts of that gameplay video just made me itch for a blackjack. Also, Digi can you confirm whether there are loading zones inside a single level?
I hope there's a mission that lets us assassinate that G4TV anchorwoman. I want so much to disembowel her right now it's almost not healthy.

Thought so.
This looks fabulous. My feelings about this game have changed so much over time. You're really lucky to be working on it Digi, it really looks like it could be a real spiritual successor to Thief. Can't wait.
