In the intros to the Thief games Garrett kills people. Yeah it's not over-the-top action movie violence, but it's still pretty jarring when you consider that the first two games don't allow you to kill anyone.

I think you mean don't force or require you to kill anyone.

Woah. This looks like a more bloodthirsty update of Thief. Will be watching this one closely later in the year!

On expert they don't allow you to kill anyone. Killing someone brings up the mission failure screen. Since expert opens up new content within the game, I always sort of assumed the "canon" or whatever for Thief is that he doesn't kill anyone.

Seeing how either one or both of the Thief intros (haven't played them in a while) show Garrett killing, I doubt that the canonical version is the one where he doesn't kill anyone.
I'd agree that it makes more sense - and is neater in terms of characterisation - for Garrett not to kill guards (unless he's in a situation where it's him or them), but if you have to ignore what the game shows you to come up with canon, then the whole notion of canon doesn't make much sense any more.

My first thought when you said "demo" was, "Cool, we'll be able to play the game ourselves!" Seriously, can't people respect that we're still stuck in the '90s and words have very specific meanings for us? :p
Is an actual demo (in the sense of 'play a (truncated) mission') planned?

Even if I knew, I wouldn't be able to say either way. :erg:
