Before ask Digi, I think we, the community, should ask ourselves: do
we need a map editor for Dishonored? Let's imagine that it will be released this evening. Who would download it right now? Who would like to create an FM/assets for DH? How many people will be engaged in it?
I don't think anyone will bother, sadly.
It would be nice in theory though.

Nobody, because most FM makers are terribly boring Luddites who haven't played Dishonored because it was made after 1999 and is full of "consolitis."
You are, pretty much, an idiot. I don't think you know very many FM
makers at all.

I just can't believe this:eek:... The question about the map editor were mentioned here, in this thread, about 10 times, but you two guys, dethtoll and NuEffect, think that nobody will create an FMs for DH at all! How do you know that? Who knows, maybe Arkane is just waiting for our (community's) interest.

I'm just pessimistic like that is all. The only games that have editors that produced anything I liked were Thief 1 and 2 and Half Life 2.
I wanted and editor for Thief 3 and I didn't like it when we got it. I wished we'd had an editor for Dark Messiah and that never happened.
I don't think we'll get one for Dishonored or for Thief 4. It'd be nice but even if we get one do you really think people will make Dishonored FMs? I would love to be proved wrong.
I don't know what dethtoll's problem is though.

For some reason he thinks jtr7, Vae, and Goldmoon Dawn are FM authors.

Oh please, they don't have the mental bandwidth to tie their shoes, let alone author FMs.

Alas, some games are tough enough to tame. Nevertheless, some people are tough enough to cope with them, and I very respect those people :).

Um... (

In case of Thief 4, I must admit that I agree with you - EM is too lazy and/or haughty. But in case of Dishonored, I'm not so sure. Like I said, maybe Arkane is just waiting for our interest. If so, then maybe we, the community, should assure Arkane that its efforts to release the editor won't be in vain.

Frankly, I don't know. But what I
do know is that if we miss somehow an excellent opportunity to ask Arkane about the map editor, while they are
still working on Dishonored 1 (I mean GOTY), then maybe some of us will regret of this for years.

Ask away.
The Dark Messiah toolkit was a bit of mess wasn't it? Did anything significant come from it?

I don't know. But Dishonored is much more popular and successful game, than Dark Messiah was. So maybe this will be enough to set fire on the torch?

As an FM author, I'd have to say, I loved every second of Dishonored, but I still wouldn't be interested enough to go through the incredibly steep learning curve required to make a level for it, or for that matter, any modern AAA game. The time it takes to make 1 thief mission would give you 5 minutes of gameplay in Dishonored, if that. I'd be better spending that time learning Unity or something to make my own stealth game if that was my intent.
