Yeh, you could refer to the Australian Gun buyback scheme, where around 640,000 firearms were turned into the government and destroyed. Are there still illegally owned guns here, you bet, but criminals and people of unstable nature will always have avenues for gun access.

I think it was more of a general 'lets reduce the amount of fucking guns we have so less people are able to get their hands on one'.
