Also, Thief13x, go eat a bag of dicks. That's right, the whole bag. This was all over the news yesterday, I'm surprised there wasn't a thread sooner.
Where would you even get one?

"...he asked, eyes smoldering as he drank in dethtoll's lanky form. He placed a hand on his hip and bent over provocatively to stopper the sink... "
I don't like guns but the only time I ever thought of getting one was to protect myself from a cop that went to my church. :erg:

I actually remember that story. (The one about the cop, not fett's "Dear Penthouse" joke)

Michael Moore's depiction of Canada is largely distorted, but he's right in that we don't really worry about guns here. My neighbour has a few hunting rifles, I've never seen them. In fact I can't recall ever seeing any actual gun that wasn't an air rifle... certainly never fired or held one myself.
A ratio of 1:1 guns per person is frankly terrifying to me.

The availability of guns in America is the least interesting angle to debate in this whole mess.

It's always going to be a tangent, especially when some people don't seem to understand that "no guns = no shootings".
june gloom on 9/1/2011 at 22:40
And some people don't understand that "no guns = impossible."
PigLick on 9/1/2011 at 22:48
bringing back open carry laws would fix a lot of things, and would be awesome too, cos you could walk around like a gunslinger, maybe even put some chaps on.
dethtoll, it should be "no illegal guns = impossible"

[EDIT: in response to dethtoll, not PigLick]
it's not impossible, it would take a generation or two, probably a few pairs of COLD DEAD HANDS but I'm sure it could be done. Yes, not perfectly, but then nothing is. It might be better.
That doesn't mean it isn't impossible in terms of public support at this moment in time, though, which could be what you're referring to. But the collection/disposal of privately owned firearms, it could be organised.
