Sheesh...I'm at work all day and the thread has blown up into this.
Unfortunately Its all pretty much irrelevant, since the greater weight lies in what I didn't quote directly: he said that he agreed with a caller who said it wouldn't have happened for Palin, then said that Palin "at a minimum" contributed to it.
I really had no intention of analyzing it with a legal level of scrutiny: trying to apply logic to an outburst that is clearly illogical can lead to conclusions that are as fantastically wrong as not using logic at all. Besides which, the guy had a retreat position built into his rant.
I don't think I really had a point, come to think of it. Maybe I was ranting about somebody else acting stupid over this event.....something thats hardly even worth mentioning.

The right is no stranger to rallying around imagined persecution. I fully forsee this even being turned around and a great public outcry against the left for unanimously having condemned the right-wing media's rhetoric as the main culprit, even though that has not and will not happen.
I think a lot of people on the left simply see this as the culmination of ever rising anger on the right, less a straight up cause and effect relationship. It may prove to be more or less cause/effect than we think, but with the climate as it is, it still felt inevitable.
