Fantastic strawman there.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Sarah Palin shoot someone at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

How the fuck is that a strawman? And are you seriously denying that people have blamed Sarah Palin for this? Because, uh, Queue provides a link to Jane Fonda doing exactly that.

I still have a hard time buying the idea that if it wasn't for Sarah Palin, that this wouldn't have happened

one caller dialed in livid and claiming that Sarah Palin bears responsibility. The host agreed and said that "you can't deny that her rhetoric contributed to making this happen"
Contributing to something doesn't mean it wouldn't happen without you.

There's evidence that he was both far right and far left, but it's kind of ridiculous to argue that the shooting had anything to do with politics at all. The guy was nuts, unstable, and possibly schizophrenic. It was as much about republican/democrat as it was about his grocery list or maybe his tv guide. The guy is sick.
It's not remotely fucking ridiculous to talk about how someone was influenced by incendiary rhetoric from the right wing, especially when their Youtube videos conspicuously parrot that same horseshit.
No doubt the guy was mentally disturbed, that puts him on an equal footing with about 90% of teabaggers.

It's this stupid binary view of things, where either you are the one pulling the trigger and therefore bear all the responsibility, or you didn't and then it doesn't matter what you did or said, you have no responsibility whatsoever. Which, like most binary views on human nature and culture, is inadequate and intellectually bankrupt, as far as I'm concerned.

True, but the statement wasn't on its own: he agreed with the caller's statement that Palin should be held personally accountable.
Besides, it doesn't mean much in the bigger scheme of things. Its just one unhinged left wing host and caller. I still marvel at the stupidity though.

See ercles's post directly below yours - there's a very basic difference between "but for" and "contributing to." It's called "proximate cause" and is a fundamental aspect of causation - as any lawyer who's spent an entire week studying Palsgraf will tell you. What he first rails against isn't even the same thing as the secondhand quote he offers up afterwards in order to be outraged over.
It's exactly this sort of piss poor inability to use consistent logic, instead resorting to simplistic binary stupidity, that plagues all of toad's thinking.
Never mind the fact that nobody here gives a shit about what some dumb fuck he listens to on the radio says, nor the fact that that is a fringe opinion not worth giving two shits over, nor is it being actively advanced here.
So yeah, he's a fucktard and that's a strawman, pretty clear, eh?

Who cares if CCCToad's statements don't live up to your legal fine reading. This isn't a courtroom and everyone else got what he meant. You're just being a hyperaggressive asshole as usual.

Stop rolling around in the gutter, you abject hypocrite.
Queue on 11/1/2011 at 14:31
Boy, she just continues to be a dumb cunt.
But neither she, nor any of the other political soap-boxers out there, can be blamed for the actions of an unstable mind. The only person to blame is the person pulling the trigger, the one who could have snapped at anytime over anything--who could have taken something Kermit the Frog said as a reason to open fire on a Dairy Queen.
