Ok, so it says that Argonians can breathe underwater due to their swampy homes, et al.
Now, I have since come to learn that they simply have a once-a-day inbuilt waterbreathing spell, NOT permanent water breathing.
Why not? I mean it would HARDLY debalance the game, to give them full time waterbreathing. It would be more of a novelty than anything - by the time most players are ready to go exploring underwater caverns they usually would have access to waterbreathing spells/scrolls/potions anyway.
Besides, if anything they need to increase character diversity. There is very little fun when character variation is as trivial as whether you get a +5 to your spear skill or your axe skill. Something like this could really set the Argonians aside from other races, which would be pretty nice.
Which leaves me to my question... are there any mods that give argonians permanent water breathing? could you recommend a site where I might search for mods if you don’t know of any off hand?? I'd like to run this before I start my planned argonian character in a new game. thanks alot!

I will check up tomorrow.

You can mod it yourself, of course... Shouldn't take more than five minutes. ;) Delete old ability, create new, permanent ability, add it to the lizards, and there you go. ;)

Ok, back this morning... the file link is still dead. I searched long and hard, and it dosen't seem there are any other sites that host this mod.
Whats more, even the "notify admin if this link is dead" link is dead!
I think mwsouce is having some real problems at the moment....
does anybody have a copy of the file laying around anywhere? would it be possable for you to email it to me??
As for making the mod myself - I have never used the editor so far and have no intention of trying... it just looks far too hard.

They did this so you could finish one of the Pilgrim Path quests. You know, the one where you have to drown before the force field is open?

All you'd have to do is load up Morrowind.esm (and the Tribunal and Bloodmoon ones, if you have them) and do a few tweaks to change the water breathing to a constant effect ability. If you really don't feel like doing it yourself, I can do it for you when I get home. :p
Though like Striker said, if you want to do the Temple quests this will keep you from doing so.

Nice of them to make it possible for an Argonian to finish the Temple quests. Of course, given dark elf attitudes toward Argonians, I don't see why it should even be possible for an Argonain to join the Temple anyway.

personally, I don't buy the whole "argonian temple quest" thing.
they could have just as easily created a hotkey that toggles between waterbreath and normal breath, just as easily as they could have placed a marker in the temple quest that quietly disables waterbreath for the drowning mission.
Personally, I think they were just being stingy.
oh well.
