Ok, this thread has two topics that are related for me. Let me start with the arena. I have come to realize it is extremely hard for a stealth based character. I only get a chance to hit them when their shield is up as they only drop it for swinging. Anybody have any fighting tips for me? I am currently lvl 7, first-level in arena, second fight. Armor is the rainment, chainmail helm, leather shield, and (Dwarven Longsword 7-8dmg , Chillrend<3dmg shortsword with 5 dmg frost hit>, and akaviri katana 5dmg).
Now on to Lag. This is what really screws me over. I line up with my enemy, go in for a power swing, then my frame rate drops to like 1-5, fixes and i hit nothing but air. only to have the guy behind me hacking at my back(which means my blocking is useless). I, however, love playing with high textures, though i would mind lowering them temporarily for a fight, but ihave to restart the game every time. Is there a way i can decrease the lag without making any changes that require a game restart?
Also going from high to medium textures barely increases my framerate by 4 or 5 fps.
If you could also point me towards better armor attainable at my lvl, that may help. Thx in Advance.
(oh, and i haven't been powerleveling, though i tried. Sadly it is pointless to keep building skills once you hit the level, cause all the modifiers just go to the next one instead)

Hmm, so no one has any clue. That's a shame. This was how I was going to join DB.
(this post is technically a bump, jic i posted at some akward time that no one noticed it, srry.)

I've noticed that if anti-aliasing is enabled than certain spell effects can cripple framerate with an ATi Radeon X700.

Arena fights with a stealth car? No idea. Run alot? :p
As for Lag, try lowering the shadow filtering too. Mostly i leave the textures at medium and the filtering at low, since the only major difference i see when switching to the higher settings is longer loading and choppiness. Try some of the optimizations (

Bleh, I'll make these one day...I more want a guide of what each effects actually does (ala shadow filtering) - I get great FPS most of the time, but do get the occasional frame-rate crashes in fights, even with my Geforce 7800 GT/dual-core 4200+ - probably bottlenecked by one gig RAM.

Yeah, using a thief character for the arena is about as stupid as having a thief be the arena champion.
People want to steal their way to people's deaths.
Just use your bow a lot ;)
