Alright, here's our spoiler thread. If you don't want to see spoilers, don't read here.

My thoughts:
Death Star 3 finally had a big ol' fighter-proof cap on its self-destruct button.
Han mocking the death star was almost fourth-wall-breakingly perfect. Yeah, yeah, take down the shield, blow it up, we've done this before. Indeed we have, Mr. Ford.
Finn is awesome:
"Stay calm. Stay calm." "I am calm." "I was talking to myself."
People throw "Mary Sue" around a bit too frequently, but for once I think the accusation seems justified (Rey's sudden force masteries). I hope we find there's more to this "Awakening" business or something. Maybe all those light-side force ghosts were up to some tricks. "Hey Obi-Wan, that whispering business took too long. Let's just implant the knowledge directly."

Why is Golem in this movie? That thing Kylo Ren was speaking with, looks exactly like him. All it was missing was "MY PRECIOUS".

For all the waiting, I was at least hoping the plotline wouldn't be completely incomprehensible gibberish.
And yet, there it was.

And why is he being projected as 50 feet tall? Is he really that tall? That part was strange.
I thought the movie was good, it definitely felt like Star Wars movie. It was better than any of the prequels. But it really lacked a lot of originality. Death Star, sand planet, snow planet, black masked villain, droid carrying important information that everyone is pursuing, First Order, etc. It's like Abrams was so scared to do anything different at the risk of alienating any of the fanboys. I'm basically OK with it, but I hope he gets a bit more daring for Eps 8 & 9.
Overall, I'd give it an 8. Lots of fun, solid action, decent plot (for a SW movie), great to see some of the old cast (although I'm bummed that Hamill and Ford won't have any scenes together), and no huge gaffes like Ewoks or Jar Jar or midichlorians.
I didn't really care too much for the "anybody can pick up a lightsaber and use it" routine and also the way that Rey piloted the Falcon (after never even being off planet before!) like she was Amelia Earhart. I mean, maybe Solo wasn't such a great pilot after all, it's just the that the Millennium Falcon handles like a dream for everyone.
Other things that didn't work - Kylo Ren's temper tantrums (I think that was supposed to be funny) and Captain Phasma voluntarily turning off the primary shields for Starkiller base. Real dedicated employee there.
Am I going to go see it again? HELL YEAH (tomorrow, in fact).

The severe lack of capital ships and starfighters.
C3PO looking like someone sprayed on gold coloured latex paint.
The story is more or less Episode 4.
Who didn't expect Han Solo's death?
A hyperspace capable Super Laser that can be seen with the naked eye moving slowly...
Why does Mark Hamill even get top of the list credits?

For all of the lack of originality - and seriously people have already done breakdowns of how the story beats are almost identical to ANH, also really disappointing to hear Williams so off his game with no discernible musical themes for the new characters - it had moments of spark and in the last 20 minutes became it's own living breathing movie.
I think that Abrams felt he had to walk a fine line between showing this was connected to the OT but not in the way the prequels were, so this required him to homage so heavily that it almost feels like a reboot, and God knows how involved Disney were in making it "feel" like the OT...
Best things about the movie was Adam Driver, followed closely by Daisy Williams, Boyega did well but he honestly felt like he was in a different movie to the rest of the characters. It will be interesting to see how they all develop over the next couple of episodes.
Also am I alone in wishing that Han hadn't died were he did? Requiring a big dramatic CG fall? Really undercut the moment for me. But yeah, was totally obvious.

My gut feeling is that he didn't die. Luke fell from a very large way up and survived (Empire Strikes Back) remember.
JJ shouldn't have included as many actors from his previous tv shows that he's done in the movie. Takes you out of the movie if you've seen the shows, and noticed the actors as I did.
The light sabre sounds in the battles sounded different. Not as good as in the originals or the prequels.
The CGI characters are quite hit and miss style stuff. Some are excellent. Others are horrible.
The attack on the Star Killer lacked any tension at all. None. Compare it to the trench scene in episode 4 and it is nothing.
I quite liked the new cast. Great acting, and likable characters.

Agree that outside of the lightsaber battle, the action was pretty inert.

We all know he'll be back in the next movie after defeating the Balrog, so I wouldn't be overly worried.
