I don't think anything force-related could get more ridiculous than lightning. How does a spiritual energy that binds and connects all living things allow someone to fling balls of electricity at someone.
Eh, I think that taking energy from an energy field and directing it in the form of an electric field is probably the most plausible of all the force powers. It also made for good theater in RotJ.

I have the feeling I would not have liked Jedi Poppins anyway, we'll never know. But with the emotional punch of Carrie Fisher's RL death, the bridge explosion seemed like a perfect, albeit unexpected, sendoff for Leia. I for one completely accepted it, didn't even stop to doubt it or consider the fact it was way too early in the movie for something this big to happen... (Did think it was ballsy, for sure...) Then she Force-returns out of freaking nowhere? I'm not saying having her back was bad after but it just cheapened the whole thing and made it look like a joke, and to be honest, a tasteless one.I understand that they wanted to keep everything the way it was to respect her last performance, and it probably was not an easy decision, but if there's one bit I would have changed in the movie, it's this one.
Agreed.

This is one of those cases, like with Jar Jar Binks scenes, where some liberal cutting & maybe a few re-edits could improve the movie, like Leia Poppins, the Casino world, & disappearing Luke. I agree that frozen Leia would have made for a very touching send-off. I wouldn't try to say such a re-cut should be canon, just that I personally don't have qualms having a new movie cut to do the job, and I haven't since Episode I really.

I know they briefly considered it, but she was so integral to the rest of the film that it wasn't a realistic option.

I appreciate that, it's just pretty sad it went that way. :(

I would have been better if she'd been the one that flew the medical ship into that super destroyer. That would have been a great send off.

The only thing I really hate about the new SW movies is the whole "all Jedi dress like they're in Saudi Arabia" thing. I always thought it was stupid that Lucas (and everyone else) took the clothing that everyone on Tattooine wore because they were living in a god damn desert and turned them into a formal Jedi bathrobe.

Surprised no one posted this yet:

This one looks quite average from the trailer. Emilia Clarke does not have a good track record for movies either. Terminator Genesys was very meh.
Welcome to the milking of Star Wars for every cent they can get out of it.

Yeah, this one leaves me cold. I like the music and Han's "We're fine" line at the end, but not much else. I liked Alden in Hail Caesar! but he's not doing much for me here. Can't say this even slightly reminds me of the old Han Solo either.

Yeah, this is the stop where I get off the bus. The Force Awakens left me with mixed feelings, and I only watched The Last Jedi to see how Luke turned out. Han Solo's back story isn't terribly interesting to me, and I have no appetite for watching somebody else play Han. I figured I wasn't going to like this one, but the trailer convinced me of it.
